Rick Perry questions Hillary’s ‘loyalty’
Source: MSNBC
Following a weekend full of conservative attacks on Hillary Clinton at the Conservative Political Action Conference, former Texas Governor Rick Perry added to the list, questioning the former secretary of states loyalty in an interview that aired Sunday.
Responding to news that the Clinton foundation had not notified the State Department when it previously accepted a donation from a foreign nation, Perry argued that Clinton was disloyal.
I think it falls flat in the face of the American people when it comes to, are you going to trust an individual who has taken that much money from a foreign source? Wheres your loyalty? Perry said in an interview that aired on CNNs State of the Union.

Yup, Republicans who openly flirt with secession and cheered on Bundy, are taking the lead in questioning Hillary Clinton's loyalty because the charitable foundation that they ran received a donation from a foreign nation.
Still, perhaps they are suggesting that we should also look into the Red Cross and Doctors Without Borders if they receive donations from foreign sources.

(12,977 posts)Several years ago, however, Perry declined to rule out the possibility that Texas could secede from the United States if significant changes weren't made to the nation's economic policies.
"There's a lot of different scenarios," he said at a Tea Party rally in 2009, CNN reported at the time. "We've got a great union. There's absolutely no reason to dissolve it. But if Washington continues to thumb their nose at the American people, you know, who knows what might come out of that. But Texas is a very unique place, and we're a pretty independent lot to boot."
The Texas governor raised eyebrows when he said, "When we came into the nation in 1845, we were a republic, we were a stand-alone nation," adding, "And one of the deals was, we can leave anytime we want. So were kind of thinking about that again."
Last year, Perry sought to clarify his position on the issue during an interview on Fox News. He pointed out that he "never used" the term "secession" in discussing the matter and said that he had "no idea" why anyone would suggest otherwise.

Back to the 1950s aren't we where many thousands of innocent people was attacked, and their Rights under the law violated grossly, on the pretext they was not loyal to the US - but rather to some other nations - mostly the russians....
The GOP are really out of their mind - both claiming to be the only one who is loyal tot he US - but even then flirting more or less open with secession and was indeed sheering on Bundy, back in the summer of 2014 - and who also have been flirting with some rather unpleasant extreme right wing groups...
And the worst is - it is maybe enough people out there who is willing to elect people like Rick Perry - into national office - as they have being doing with the current crop of GOP leadership in Senate and Congress.. I'm not surprising if they are able to even elect them to the White House to be honest - not after enough people managed to elect George Walker Bush jr to the office....

Gov. Rick Perry of Texas Is Indicted on Charge of Abuse of Power
By MANNY FERNANDEZ
AUG. 15, 2014
AUSTIN, Tex. A grand jury indicted Gov. Rick Perry on two felony counts on Friday, charging that he abused his power last year when he tried to pressure the district attorney here, a Democrat, to step down by threatening to cut off state financing to her office.
The indictment left Mr. Perry, a Republican, the first Texas governor in nearly 100 years to face criminal charges and presented a major roadblock to his presidential ambitions at the very time that he had been showing signs of making a comeback.
Grand jurors in Travis County charged Mr. Perry with abusing his official capacity and coercing a public servant, according to Michael McCrum, the special prosecutor assigned to the case.
The long-simmering case has centered on Mr. Perrys veto power as governor. His critics asserted that he used that power as leverage to try to get an elected official Rosemary Lehmberg, the district attorney in Travis County to step down after her arrest on a drunken-driving charge last year. Ms. Lehmberg is Austins top prosecutor and oversees a powerful public corruption unit that investigates state, local and federal officials; its work led to the 2005 indictment of a former Republican congressman, Tom DeLay, on charges of violating campaign finance laws.

(6,498 posts)I was a bit taken aback when I saw this thread, but I guess that it must be a rather common political tactic, if mainstream politicians like Rick Perry are using it, too, and not just folks here at DU.
I must say that I find it a rather unconvincing tactic.
