Texas man threatens girlfriend 7 times in a month, then kills her hours after she begs police for he

Source: Raw Story

"Although CCPD records showed incidents between the couple going back to January of 2014 — including seven death threats and other incidents last month — Calderon repeatedly denied during the interview that he ever threatened Coglaiti or that he slashed her tires.

“She likes playing the little mind games too,” he remarked. “She’s not quite as innocent as she makes it out to be.”

After the 37-minute interview with police was over, Calderon was allowed to leave. About 16 hours later, Calderon shot Coglaiti to death in an apartment, and then turned the gun on himself.

At a press conference on Tuesday, CCPD officials said that they did all that they could do to protect Coglaiti under state and federal laws."

Even if there's a court order, you better bring a lawyer if you want them to enforce it.

They'd rather tag a dead body than deal with a live domestic violence situation

people. They are there to enforce the law. They are there to investigate your murder, not prevent it. That makes everyone responsible for their own safety.

To Serve and Protect is a nice soundbite. But the only one that you can really rely on to protect yourself is you and your family. A restraining order is just a sheet of paper.

The cops said that they did everything under federal and state laws. But those laws weren't enough to protect this woman from being gunned down by the piece of crap.
The cops don't have to care. As long as they arrest your murderer, they are doing their jobs.
The only one that is responsible for protecting you is you.

The job of the police is to protect and serve society as a group by investigating crimes after they occur and by arresting the suspects for trial.

The protection of the individual persons is the responsibility of the individuals, not the police.

It's so easy to say she should have just left him, but even when women do leave, all to often the man stalks her anyway. And restraining orders are basically not worth the paper they're written on.

Additional note: If if she "likes playing little mind games too" does not justify killing her. Period.

Police need to be a lot more willing to believe women who say they've been threatened. Likewise women who say they've been raped. The number who make any of that up is trivial compared to all the incidents out there.

It's a large part of the reason why so many of these cases go unprevented.....that, and our stupid obsession with the War on Drugs..... R.I.P. Heather Coglaiti.
