Anyone else living in Mexico?

1. Mexico

You need Baja Nomads, If you browse the posts you'll see everything has been asked at one time or another. Had a condo in San Jose del Cabo for a few years and now have a 5th wheel in Bahia de Los Angeles but never actually 'lived' there.

2. I am on that site and I like it up to a point.

There seems to be quite of bit of internal sniping that I don't really get and don't want any part of.

Some of the members have been very friendly and helpful, though.

3. IT's Just like DU...

there are a few real arseholes but most are good people. However, the information IS there if you are patient enough to search for it. I've been on it for years but have only made 4 posts. It's the best resource there is for Baja/Mexico

4. I have gotten some good information and tried to provide some as well.

We sailed and drove. My husband brought the boat (with crew) and one of my best girlfriends and I drove down from Ensenada. So we have both the boat and the car, which is very cool. We are in La Paz right now.

In early February, we plan to take both across the sea to the mainland and start exploring that area.

I don't have any specific questions right now, but any insights you want to offer would be very welcome.

I am really liking it here. I have to figure out when and how I am going to renew my tourist card in April, but that's still a ways off.

Have you lived in Baja for any length of time? Have you taken the ferry to the mainland?

5. Not 'lived there...

3 months was our longest and we've done that several times. No, we've never done the ferry - it's expensive. We've been going down since the early 90's, first to Bahia Kino on the mainland, then San Jose and then 5 years ago Bahia de los Angeles. Each place very different. Nothing specific to tell you, just enjoy!

6. I drove down here but didn't have the opportunity to stop in BLA.

I doubt I will get there.

Just got back from the wonderful market. I'm learning to cook with local ingredients, as well as become somewhat proficient in Spanish. The first is going better than the second, but going to the market is great for both.

8. Why isn't there a Mexico forum on DU?

There's one for Canada, our neighbor to the north, but none for our southern neighbor. And a significant portion of the U.S. population is Mexican. What gives?

I have to get my news about Mexico in El Enemigo Comun. I wish there were main stream news sources available in English here on DU.

I am currently in La Cruz (north of Puerto Vallarta) after several months in Ensanada, then La Paz.

How long have you been down here?

I am loving it here. I work off the internet a little, but have mostly been learning to speak and cook in Mexican!

We have to leave sometime in the next 2 months in order to renew our tourist cards and may make a road trip out of it which would include Mexico City. Any advice you could provide would be much appreciated.
