(20,597 posts)The state bought 8 of these trains and it has been a big thing for the riders. These were probably people who wanted to be the first riders. Such a complete disaster. Just got back from the store and people were all excited for Christmas and it just didn't feel right.

(11,666 posts)No time is a good time to lose a loved one, but right before Christmas is an especially bad time. RIP to those that lost their lives. Heartfelt condolences to their loved ones and friends. I wish a speedy recovery to the survivors.
I also can't help but remember that this is also the 45th anniversary of when Joe Biden lost his first wife and infant daughter. If I remember correctly his wife and children were on their way to pick up a Christmas tree when another vehicle hit them. So sad.

(42,001 posts)I didnt lose anyone but have a few train enthusiast friends who considered going. Sadly lots of the passengers were just that, people who love trains and wanted to be in on a bit of history.

(25,816 posts)(who expelled me), I would hop the freights in Salem and ride to Seattle with
some buddies. That was the line we were on. Most of it was through the woods
and not next to the roads. A long time ago. '69
