R.I.P. 2017

I know some on this picture might be unfamiliar across the pond. Liz Dawn (Vera Duckworth) and Keith Chegwin to name just two. However so many more are immediately recognisable.
For me in the back ground seeing the Mandalay and Grenfell Towers is a gut wrenching reminder of how horrid 2017 has been.

5. Seeing Liz Dawn and Roy Barraclough (just to the top left of Liz) made me smile

Yes, I'm a huge Coronation Street fan and I still miss the Vera Duckworth and Alec Gilroy characters, to this day.

In fact, I am currently watching Friday's episode, and getting ready for today's double episode.

10. No - I live in Michigan, and watch Corrie via the CBC out of Windsor, Ontario

I always had a deep fascination about the UK, and started watching Corrie in the 70's, after I stumbled across it while channel surfing. The signal from Windsor to Flint was shaky but watchable.

Except for my time in the Navy, I've been watching ever since. (My cable provider carries the CBC.) I'm in a very lonely fan base of 1, in my area, but I've connected with others in the states, via a US/Canadian Corrie FB group.

I have not watched Corrie in years but Vera Duckworth is a national icon and Liz Dawn was a national treasure.

12. The show definitely isn't as good as it was when Vera and Jack were around

It's gotten to be more like a northern version of 'The Eastenders'. Or, as I like to call it 'CSI Weatherfield'. But there are still some golden Corrie moments that keep me tuning in.

We've seen so many of the great cast members pass away - Liz, Bill Tarmey, Betty Driver, Jean Alexander. I actually cried when I heard Jean Alexander died. Hilda Ogden was, and still is, one of my all time favorite Corrie characters.
