Please tell me if I am wrong (I hope). But if we back the red rat into a corner, couldn't he just

make up some excuse to attack North Korea or Iran? Declare martial law.
Limit the ability of the populace to communicate over the internet. Who's
going to attack a president in the middle of a war or two?
Corner a rat and what's to stop him from using every lever under his control?
Please tell me I am being paranoid (and mean it!).

Based on what I've seen, I wouldn't put anything past this guy. Anything.

I'm not usually this pessimistic, but I never DREAMED this guy would
actually be president. I guess we will see what an endless supply of
money can accomplish.

and so far he's been screwing up at least half the things he's tried to do. Remember how Bush the Lesser got us into Iraq II? It took a lot of work by some serious people to get that done.

This is not to say that he couldn't bungle something so badly or issue some orders that could cause serious trouble, but we survived Nixon and a few others who tried a police state.

GWB started a failed, illegal war in Iraq and Afghanistan in order to win reelection – and it worked.

Trump is more dishonest than Bush, and if desperate enough will do anything to win.

"I've been mostly writing and tweeting about economics, simply because others are covering things like the Mueller investigation very well and I know something about econ. But the tax bill, awful as it is, isn't what keeps me up at night.

What's obvious, looking both at Trump and Trumpist media, is that they are terrified. They know or strongly suspect that revelations of massive corruption and collusion are just around the corner. What we already know would have led to impeachment proceedings if Trump were D.

And the fact that they're terrified should have us terrified. These are people with authoritarian instincts, no respect for democratic norms, facing personal ruin, disgrace and quite possibly jail time. They will lash out -- and it will be a moment of truth for America."
