I have a good feeling about whats been happening, and what is about to happen.
Women who have been silenced for too long about sexual harassment/molestation and threats of their careers being destroyed for not playing along are now being heard and taken seriously.
Harvey Weinsteins career is dead. Matt Laurer, who pilloried Hillary at every opportunity, is out of a job. Mike Flynn, who once led the chant Lock her up! is now facing being locked-up. Hillary-hater Bill OReilly is off the air.
The Republican party is hemorrhaging members, and recent elections have been a sweep by Democrats. Even the reddest of the red states, Alabama, has declared that enough is enough when it comes to accused pedophiles representing their best interests.
Robert Muellers investigation is bearing fruit, and the smirks on the faces of people like Jared Kushner and Donnie Junior are being turned into grimaces of Holy shit! I had NO idea Id get caught!.
Republicans are facing the ire of constituents who KNOW their tax reform bill is a scam to put more money into the pockets of the wealthy, and are waking up to the fact that those sworn to represent them are only representing themselves and their monied donors.
Lies told are being exposed as lies and the liars are being exposed as having told them. People like Steve Bannon are being exposed for what they ARE, and not what theyve pretended to be.
As for Trump, his approval numbers keep nose-diving, and even his staunchest supporters are wondering why they ever voted for him in the first place. Our standing in the world community has been diminished, our national security is at risk as a result of his actions, and the entire world is saying what-the-fuck??? every time he opens his mouth. Our fellow citizens are noticing and they are not amused.
The Republican party is now in 24/7 damage control mode desperately trying to convince their adherents that the incompetent, mentally-unstable idiot they elected to the White House is not the Putin-loving puppet the actual FACTS are proving him to be.
Have patience give it time. By this time next year, the Republican party will still be scrambling to explain why they supported and defended a treasonous bastard, and why they continued to support and defend him despite the overwhelming evidence that he and his cohorts were Putin playmates all along.
While 2017 was the year of the liars and co-conspirators, 2018 will be the year of reckoning. A so-called pResident will go down, and the party that enabled him will pay the price for their self-serving treachery.
Its all good. Its all coming to an end. Have faith, my fellow citizens when all is said and done, all will be well. We are now only seeing the tip of the iceberg that will inevitably sink the ship. Watch for the lifeboats to be commandeered by the "I had NO idea he was THIS bad" jerk-offs who cheered the guy who was willing to throw an entire country overboard in order to save himself.
In the end, the truth always outs itself. And when it does, it is a wondrous thing to behold.

(16,254 posts)about the many times he had slept in his office. He went on to explain that he was working so hard on the tax bill and other items that it made more sense for him to stay and work into the early hours. When he didn't have anything pressing to handle, he would go home to his wife and children. Very impressive if you could actually believe anything he said.
He seems to think he's quite a hunk. Poor ignorant soul.

(470 posts)but I cannot bring myself to be very positive at this point. This is trump, and we haven't seen anything yet.

(1,134 posts).... I am way less optimistic in fact, at least for the next year. Reason being that the Repukes still control all three branches of Government, and will at least until 2019. The House has all but given up on their investigation, and all the congressional leaders themselves are complicit of seeking and taking Ruskie cash, or looking the other way. They are not going to capitulate power until the nation itself rises up, or votes them all out. As much as I'd like to see all these cretins in prison jumpsuits, I'm getting way less optimistic it will happen soon--methinks it will be a long slog. Remember how long Watergate took. Justice grinds slowly (especially for someone as impatient as I), but it grinds on, relentlessly and inexorably, and November 2018 will be the last nail in the coffin (assuming we have a free election).
