I have nothing to say on any of the threads because we're all going o die of something, but I am not shedding a tear for one person who supports the Con and ReTHUGs. The vast majority of them don't even want poor people to have healthcare. The vast majority of them support tax cuts for the rich and would destroy social security and health care for ordinary people.

I'm in the 'not one tear for those who don't care' group.

Just ask his first wife how much she values his "service" in an obscene war, the genesis of which isone that rivals Germany being "invaded" by Poland

just ask all the people who Keating cheated out of their life savings, their HOMES, as a result of McCain's enabling

Look how he fell in line with the chimp after being humiliated, slandered, smeared, etc., during the primary

and look what he's done since trump did basically the same thing to him during the campaign

he has no shame, no self respect (or for anyone else to whom he doesn't maximally suck up), and deserves none

Speaking of silly comments.

Here's a hint, we didn't have torture camps. Yes we did some crappy things, but we weren't shoving bamboo shards under people's fingers.

Also as for McCain and the Vietnamese, he did get endorsed in 2008 by one of his former jailers. Perhaps not as much bad blood as you assume.

fully approved and facilitated by the U.S. government. We murdered millions throughout Indochina and made life a living hell for tens of millions. Commiting some the worst atrocities in human history, people were forced into the existence of troglodytes by our bombing campaigns, scratching and clawing in the mud for survival. We bombed Laos daily, for eight years.

So deep is the ignorance among Americans about this fit of violence by the U.S. power structure against the people of Indochina, that when asked about the casualty numbers, even the college educated guess that 'only' about 100,000 Vietnamese people died.

At the individual human level, disease is still the common enemy. That's why we fight the mistakes made by man, like the Republican Party, for example, because we cannot aspire to curing cancer, confronting climate change, or exploring the stars until we end the problems created by man -- hunger, want, violence, injustice, etc. -- which are supposed to be the easier problems to solve. That's the big picture. I don't want McCain voting for the tax bill but I do want him to be well. I want Trump to be well, too, because he certainly is not.

I vehemently disagreed with you on that "other" thread but I'll try to be more thoughtful with this reply.

My beloved, a Vietnam Vet, died two years ago from brain cancer resulting from exposure to Agent Orange. He was from a very poor family, didn't know where Vietnam was, but was drafted into that war and hated everything about it. I protested that war, but always tried to support the troops because so many, like my beloved, were there because of the draft.

I was with J.E.S. during chemotherapy, during regular radiation, during pinpoint radiation, during brain surgery. I saw him with a metal cage screwed to his head and fed him a quarter of a grilled cheese sandwich through the slots. I saw him cry in his workshop when he realized he could no longer figure out how to measure....even though he had once made me a pair of brass calla lily bookends. I saw him hold his head high as I put a Velcro belt around his waist so I could hold him up on his feet. I saw him take his last breath. It tore my heart out, and I don't wish this pain on anybody.

I'm certain John McCain and his family are going through a devastating time and no matter what side of the aisle he stands on, I can not find it in my heart to wish him ill will. I want him to have more time on earth, the love of his family and peace.

This world has so much hate, so much sorrow. Let's try to make it better.

I don't give 2 fucks about him OR that awful family of his. . . Am I saying I want something like this to happen to him? No. But bad things happen all the time, and they happen to good people too. Why would I waste my valuable time worrying about that motherfucker?

I read this OP in disbelief.

Was very reassured to read the responses that prove we are indeed different from them.

I just can’t even speak to the comparison of Vietnam vets to Nazis. Smh.

I actually wouldn’t want Trump to suffer unduly. What would be the point? I think he’s a terrible human being who enacts garbage policies and almost certainly deserves jail time. Cancer would change none of that.

That said, if he had cancer he’d have access to the world’s best medical care and unlimited resources to pay for it. He’d have a lot more protection than huge numbers of people his policies screw over. Why would he need the sympathy of his political enemies on top of that?

out when I tore apart my apartment one night after I was harassed and took myself too the hospital I was so mad. As long as you are not hurting anyone do your thing. Nobody gets to say what the meaning of events in your life is. These are bad times for Americans.

because he is such a disgusting, immoral person.

I have no idea how I would react, but I do know that I've caught myself in brief instances wishing things on him that I've never wished on anyone else. Ever.

Anyone can get cancer. My wife has battled it twice. Both my parents and all their siblings had it. So, with me, it's not a question of "if," but "when." Support is great, even vital, but it's a lonely, consuming battle in the end. You can't engage in a serious battle against it AND do something like being president or a member of Congress at the same time.

If Trump turned out to have cancer, I'd support his immediate resignation, and pity him the kind of support he'd probably expect from HIS kind of family.

But that's all speculation. For now, I only have pity for our country.

The man has hardened me and I have no empathy for someone who is putting so many others at dire risk.
