What's that all about? Why is he having that meeting?
Here's my guess:
I think it's going to be a "heads up" sort of meeting. Mueller may well be going in there to inform those attorneys of actions he will be taking immediately or in the very, very near future. That could include indictments, release of reports naming conspirators and co-conspirators, or any of several other actions.
It's a matter of professional courtesy, perhaps. He may be going to provide the Trump administration with fair, if short, notice of actions that will have negative consequences for a number of people in the administration. That way, they can make some sort of preparations for what is about to happen. It's a polite way of saying, "Get your shit together, because it's going to hit the fan tomorrow."
I also suspect that he will outline what will happen if he is removed from his position by Trump. He will probably explain that his removal will in no way affect the measures that will be taken. He may also explain that additional measures are already in the pipeline and will be taken by his staff on short notice, if that occurs.
Then, he'll leave, and the attorneys will scurry off like frightened rats to deliver the news. All Hell will then break loose.
That's what I think is likely to be the reason for this meeting. I'll be watching for breaking news.

(146,341 posts)However, I think it was probably Mueller who contacted the administration to set it up. That's the most logical reason.
Really, the White House doesn't really have a good reason to want to speak with Mueller. Mueller, on the other hand, could easily call over there and get those attorneys in for a chat. Trump's people are very curious about anything Mueller might have to say. The converse isn't so true. If he were to be summoned to the White House to meet with the admin's lawyers, he might just plead being too busy and decline. The lawyers, on the other hand, would quickly become available if Mueller asked to meet with them.

(1,168 posts)I think that if Mueller was going to make a move now he would just do it without any meetings with the WH. I think he would simply drop the hammer. I think that everyone wants Mueller to taunt the admin. There is nothing to be gained from that and it would complicate things for no good reason.

(5,210 posts)I'd been under the impression that Trump's lawyers had, though that was just an impression.
Makes a lot of difference who called it.
I do agree though that Mueller will likely give them the lay of the land of what happens IF ... yadayda.
