Five years on, Sandy Hook families recall gun horror but is anyone listening in Washington?

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/dec/09/newtown-sandy-hook-gun-control-washington
<snip>
When concerned families from Newtown, Connecticut, first came to Washington five years ago, every door was open.

This year, the room they had reserved for a press-conference on Capitol Hill was double-booked. They were shifted to a room half the size and only a single TV camera showed up to cover the emotional stories of dozens of gun violence survivors who had flown in from across the country.

Members of Congress only agreed to set up meetings with their direct constituents, and many simply offered a briefing with a staffer. The only lawmakers who spoke at the annual vigil to honor gun violence victims were from Connecticut.

Sandy Hook has become synonymous with a cynicism about America’s escalating gun violence problem; if Americans could not pass stricter gun laws after 20 children were shot dead in their elementary school classrooms, then they would never act.

Of course not - it's too soon!

They're all too busy sending out their "thoughts and prayers" to the latest "too soon to talk about........" victims.

Such BULLSHIT!!

And it will continue until we get an electorate that will stand up, show up, and THROW THEM OUT!!!!!

The Las Vegas massacre never happened.

Trump won the popular vote by 20 million votes.

The Bowling Green Massacre did happen.

And the saddest thing is that many US voters really believe all that I just wrote.

Not for money or fame, but because it is the right thing to do.

And our Congress cannot seem to find a way to make America safe for 6 yr olds going to school
because they might lose money or power.

We live in a violent society, and our leadership is corrupt and greedy.

When Legislators decided 20 dead children was a price they were willing to pay to appease their donors. If that doesn’t shock us to action, nothing ever will.

Vegas wasn't the right time to talk about it.

Orlando wasn't the right time to talk about it.

San Bernardino wasn't the right time to talk about it.

Aurora wasn't the right time to talk about it

Sandy Hook wasn't the right time to talk about it.

Notice a pattern here?
