Amendment to tax bill carves out exemption for Hillsdale College

Retweeted by Dave Weigel: https://twitter.com/daveweigel

Re: tax bill . College endowments are getting taxed but senator Toomey has offered an amendment 1690 that carves out exemption, not for colleges in his own state- but for the very conservative hillsdale college in Michigan

Sen. Hatch also inserted amendment #1685 -
"Deduction for religious instruction tuition."
In other words: They raising taxes on public schools & grad students to subsidize private religious education.

That fucker doesn't pick up the phone unless it's preceded by a palette of $100 bills.

he did a year w americorp, went to a cheap 2 year college, then a state university, then got a full boat to u utah.
tutored as an undergrad to pay for his expenses.
ta now.

we could have helped him, but to his credit, he wanted to do it himself.
dont know if this will change his plans. we will see if they raise the stipends to buffer this. suspect the wealthier schools will be able to do that. grad students are still a bargain for them.

but just how fucking stupid and mean is it to attack this?

you must be so proud. My oldest will also be graduation without ant debt. The youngest is probably not going to fare as well. But between her pt job and scholarships we figure her undergraduate costs should be around $6k....med school is likely to be out of control. We'll see what happens. We are helping with household expenses...she is living at home

the road fron Hillsdale College. Great family values. Where inconvenient women get suicided covered up by local corrupt police and college administration. Look it up College President having affair with assistant who was also his daughter in law. .
