New information has a top federal prosecutor reconsidering his support for a proposed bail bond for former Donald Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort, which could involve Manaforts Palm Beach Gardens home.
Robert Muellers Office of Special Counsel had supported Manaforts bond motion Thursday, but asked a judge on Friday for several days to reevaluate. The government wants until Monday in light of information that has come to the governments attention only after defendants Motion was filed, which the government is still examining, a lawyer for Mueller wrote.
The judge agreed to the timeline.
There is no indication in the government filing what the information is or how it could affect the prosecution of Manafort.
Fridays filing by federal officials does not dispute claims made by Manaforts lawyers Thursday that the federal officials supported the bond.
Also on Friday, Trumps former national security adviser, Michael Flynn, pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI during Muellers investigation. Flynns charges do not mention Trump. Mueller said Flynn lied Jan. 24, after Trump had took office and Flynn had become the national security adviser, about conversations with the Russian ambassador between Trumps election and inauguration.

(82,849 posts)Considering what a flight risk Manafort is, I can't imagine a prosecutor worth his salt failing to take every precaution he can to keep him in the country. Money and property mean nothing to a defendant who can get plenty of both with the snap of his fingers in countries all over the world. So what if Manafort loses his Palm Beach Gardens property? Plenty more for him where that came from. If Manafort told me the sun was coming up in the East, I'd look out the window before I trusted his word.

Sucks to be Manafort.
