When adults take back govt, can everything in the "kill the poor and elderly" tax bill be reversed?

Or will the corp tax cuts be permanent?

etc?

There are ways to get around the corp tax cuts if they are permanent, just remove some of the provisions allowing them to reduce the amount they owe.

Everything else, unless we end up in a civil or world war, is reversible and FAST?

Might need a super majority of Democrats unless there are a few Republicans who see the handwriting on the wall.

Many need to consider making drastic changes to lifestyle.

If it is cold where you are in the winter, get used clothing to bundle up in and turn the heater off, etc.

Do this because donald trump needs a tax cut. jesus christ are we stupid

but emails!

really does lower the deficit. However, it is ALWAYS a hard lift to raise any taxes. Part of the problem is that both parties raise money to fund campaigns and many might fear losing future contributions.

The problem is that even if we regained the House and Senate in 2018, we would still have a Republican President - even if he is not named Trump. (Either it would be President Pence or if Pence is implicated I think, like Agneau, he would go first and (unfair as it is) Trump would get to nominate a new VP who the Senate would confirm.) Otherwise, even if Democrats pass something, the Republican will veto it. (If we gain the Senate in 2018, the best scenario is that they refuse to confirm anyone unwilling to undo some of this.)

Democrats always need 60 votes.

At least that's how it seems doesn't it?

Republicans will keep the White House until then, even if Donnie, pence, etc. are removed.

Any republican president will use the veto power to keep tax cuts for the rich in place. We won’t have anything close to the votes needed to override a veto ever if we win huge in 2018.

After 2020, when we control the White House and both houses of Congress, it gets easier.

would be if Pence is implicated and leaves AFTER December 2018 AND we back the Senate in November. Then Trump would have to nominate someone a Democratic Senate would confirm. Obviously a Republican, but maybe a real conservative willing to not veto a bill that rolls back some of the cuts. Then if Trump is removed, it could happen earlier.

convoluted and extremely unlikely.

This bullshit tax "plan" is beyond ridiculous. It's as close as they could get to shooting somebody in the middle of 5th avenue as you can get without literally shooting somebody in the middle of 5th avenue. We are going to tank so hard and fast an equally productive measure will have to be passed.

What I fear is that rather than governing with any sort of rational logic. We are entering a tit for tat age of legislation that does and undoes the other parties legislation and it is all the fault of the goddamn Republicans and their idiot ass voters. So, again, we'll have to come in and get things going in the right direction. Things will be good and their voters can slide right back into their coma of hate and awfulness. The republicans will then give them a new hate proxy and we are back to square fucking one all over again. Jesus Christ, why can't they wake up to what the people they are voting for are doing to them.

None of what their politicians are doing is working for anybody but the rich. The unadulterated ugliness of it is that on some level their voters damn well know it and don't care. It infuriates me to know end how shameless, greedy and ambivalent they are towards the middle class and the poor but they get elected and reelected again and again because of some nonsensical misdirected hate.

This tax plan is bunk, just like the healthcare bill was bunk. Yet, here they are lining up to vote to destroy the heart of this country and then walk away. It's fucking criminal, CRIMINAL, and there will be no accountability for what they are about to do. No check to pay, no comeupance, no revenge, no nothing. They will walk away from it and shrug their goddamn shoulders. Meanwhile the rest of us, their stupid ass voters included, will struggle and pay taxes and get nothing back from it except overly expensive war toys.

If Democrats regain control of the Congress and the presidency, the whole thing can be repealed or substantially amended. But that's a big "if."

They get the tax cuts for 2-6 years, pleasing their corporate owners.

After grown ups repeal it, the GOP can spend another thirty years screaming about how Democrats want to raise your taxes.

(And take your guns and make your children gay Maoists)
