. Chris Christie gave a one-on-one talk with Politico's Josh Dawsey last week for what the website billed as "an epic exit interview."
The interview was published Friday in Politico Magazine.  
Here are 11 highlights and new things we learned about the governor.


1. Christie thinks there's more to Bridgegate
The George Washington Bridge lane closure scandal shattered Christie's popularity in the state and delivered a big blow to his White House ambitions. Christie has never been directly tied to the scandal and he adamantly denies any involvement.
The admitted mastermind of the scandal, David Wildstein, told jurors it was a political revenge scheme against the mayor of Fort Lee for not endorsing Christie's re-election bid. His testimony helped convict a former top Christie administration official, Bridget Anne Kelly, and the governor's top appointee to the Port Authority, Bill Baroni.
But Christie thinks there's more to the story.
“I don’t even think the true story has ever been told about why it was done,” Christie said. “I don’t buy the fact and I’ve never bought the fact that this was done to penalize the mayor of Fort Lee.”
Christie wouldn't say what he thought happened, telling Politico he doesn't know.
