Does anyone else believe this forum is actively being attacked by russians?

This discussion thread was locked by EarlG (a host of the General Discussion forum).

Election night they hacked the forum and took it down. They know du is a threat. They want to divide us, so where do you think they will post on here? They use bernie vs hillary and other wedge issues to divide us. Im sure ill get some your crazy or whatever posts, well this is crazy.

election. Women voted for Obama and that was the story of that election. All of a sudden nobody on the DU could agree on women's issues. Which was more than odd. I called it out at the time. I thought it was republicans. Could be Russians. A few years later a war broke out over race. Again a pretty much settled issue for democrats. Next it was Bernie Hillary war. Outrageous things were said on both sides and that was a verified Russian wedgie. One thing for sure...it worked. And republicans will copy the Russians next election season. They have unlimited money to buy ads. That you for your post. It is good to touch base and remember DU is under siege.

Trump was bankrolled and backed by the russian government. These are facts, not a conspiracy. Another fact is russians are still actively trying to influence our elections, via trolls who try to act like citizens of the usa posting misinformation on sites like du.

Not allowed to say it. But it seemed obvious to me. It was either Russians or expert Freepers (and there aren't many of those). The forums with both parties - they were up and running. I checked FR. No problems there. Only DU...the largest Democratic forum on the internet.

Then when Trump had a surprise win, I suspected Russian involvement was responsible, all things considering.

I dont think theyre going to be real obvious. Gaining peoples trust might be part of it. People you think you know very well could be russians. I know it sounds kind of paranoid, but their misinformation is contageous, its viral. They will work at securing relationships to manipulate minds. Pushing their narrative, the more they say it, or it looks like others agree with them, the more normal it seems.

There is informayion that show the russians have been planning this for a very long time.

...was certainly an ally knocking down DU for the 2016 election. When the site went down, it meant no reports of voting "snafus" could be reported here - they stopped the documentation of information. This told me they were very actively working on getting Trump elected. They were NOT "expecting Hillary to win" and waiting for the voters to decide. The voters' decision needed to be avoided.

You can tell your grandchildren about it. You got your boy into the White House. But Trump was a mistake. And we're on to you. Think up something else. You are certainly capable of it. Do something good. Take this energy and put it to use for the better.

And to those conservatives who just happened to want an incompetent buffoon as president, yes, it was just a coincidence that the Russians wanted the same thing.

No, I'm not accusing you of working in a troll mill in Siberia, but those who do know well that their #1 technique is poking sticks into political sores.

We can discuss the use of wedge issues without using the very same triggering words and names they do to distract people into quarreling.

After all, this is all about keeping We the People turned on each other and unable to deal with threats most of us actually recognize, our rights being eroded and pockets cleaned out from inside, our national stability being undermined from without.

And, especially for us on DU, they're being used right here by ultrawealthy conservatives and Putin as part of their projects to break apart the Democratic Party into its many diverse factions.

They'd already have succeeded if continual outrages and threats from what the Republican Party has become didn't keep us reminded of why Democratic voters who vary widely in education, socioeconomic status, age, race, ethnicity, belief systems, geography, gender, ethnicity and leadership preference came together in the first place.

And have been particularly effective over there - ever since the "Fake News" meme hit...not much gets through over there.

They don't believe ANYTHING from any MSM source...anyone who becomes concerned about trump is a "never trumper"

They are more polarized against any dissenting thought than ever before.

I think "Fake News" is a big part of it and no accident.
