With today's indictments it is now clearly a question of when (and not if) tRump is removed. My question for you is how long can tRump last? Can he make it through the first term. I believe it might only be a matter of months. Look into your crystal ball and make a prediction.

Personally I hope for four years less.
Anything else is wishful speculation.

(63,173 posts)The GOP congress--which will easily retain its majority in 2018 and 2020--has no incentive to act against Trump because he is absolutely and unfailingly advancing their agenda.
His base will not turn on him, so that's a 30% - 35% guaranteed Republican vote foundation.
It is highly unlikely that Trump will resign because that will mean admitting defeat or failure. If, however, he does resign, he will claim that it is because Democrats and the FAKE NEWS have created such a toxic environment that nothing can be accomplished. Pence will then immediately pardon Trump for all eligible crimes, and Republicans (enabled by the media) will immediately begin canonizing Trump as a great president unfairly brought down by collusion between Democrats--led by Clinton--and the hostile media (and of course the media will act quickly to re-ingratiate itself with Republicans, to avoid any accusation of Liberal bias).
If you find this pessimistic, please tell me: what crime can Trump have committed that, in your view, would guarantee that the GOP Senate will act to impeach him?

(23,932 posts)i'm thinking the GOP will want him gone before Dec. 2018, to establish presidential creds for Pence before 2020 rolls around
and he'll probably want to leave before then anyway, if he doesn't have a 2-scoops heart attack

(13,421 posts)They will have to roll his carcass out of the office feet first to ever get him out of there before the end of his term. I honestly think the GOP is that dickless, and that he's that crazy.

(720 posts)Even if indicted, and I'm not really sure he will be indicted. He's not going to get impeached by this Congress, and the Dems aren't going to retake both the House and Senate, and even if they did probably wouldn't have the votes in the Senate to impeach. So unless he resigns we are stuck with him for a few more years. I don't know if he'll run for reelection, but don't think he'll win if he does.
