The news that Special Counsel Robert Mueller has filed sealed indictments in the multiple investigations facing the Trump administration is sending shock waves of suspicion and uncertainty through President Donald Trumps legal team and his closest allies, said Politico on Saturday.
President Donald Trumps White House and personal lawyers scrambled Saturday to learn where the knife might fall in the investigation by special counsel Robert Mueller, wrote Politicos Darren Samuelsohn, triggering a guessing game among aides after days of trying to turn attention away from allegations of collusion with Russia during the election.
Attorneys for the White House, for President Trump and for his many aides who have lawyered up since the Mueller probe began were burning up phone lines on Friday and Saturday trying to find any information about the nature of the sealed indictments or who might be named in them.
Some, like ousted legal team spokesman Mark Corallo were enraged by indictment news, which he accused the Mueller team of leaking in order to put the squeeze on Trumps allies and defenders.

Yeah, duh, that's how witness flipping works.

(58,785 posts)their own propaganda. Again and again, we learn about dishonest fools who were elevated far above a level of competence that absolutely requires being honest with oneself, if not with others. In corrupt administrations, government and business, they're appallingly common.

Would love to see the old fashioned prosecutors squeeze used to full effect in this case.

Well, now it's aimed inward. THEY get to sit on pins 'n' needles this time. And it's not merely to find out who gets the "yeh FIRED" pronouncement.

That's Trumps LEGAL TEAM spokesman?! Who obviously has no clue about how prosecutors work or operate
No wonder everyone in the WH is in a panic, their lawyers are just as stupid as they are
The next few days are going to be really interesting

(205,074 posts)In the ways things work in D.C. - obviously he only trusts those in his "inner circle" - and that gives me hope that Mueller and his team have the advantage. This is one situation that Trump won't be able to bully or pay his way out of! I don't think he's yet realized that this is serious - it's not another "game show" - so it will be very interesting to see how this plays out... *fingers crossed*

(8,946 posts)Who would want to take on a lying, compulsive asshole like that
Plus there is a good chance he would stiff you on getting paid
Not to mention you would be defending a crazy idiot who committed treason
No surprise any decent law firm would take a pass

(205,074 posts)How many lawyers would turn down the prestige of representing a sitting president? But we have never had anyone in office remotely like Trump - especially since he's so flagrant in his outrageous actions. What reputable attorney would feel okay about taking on his issues - knowing that Trump is incapable of following advice? And that's a very good point about him stiffing everyone - no wonder he has inept representation. But he's also incapable of figuring that out...

A partner in one gave 4 reasons in an interview why his wouldn't take the case: First was kind of a basic oh-brother: He doesn't pay his attorney bills. But I think the next was the big, determinate one: They knew he doesn't follow his attorneys' advice. The last two were that it would harm them with their other clients and with prospective top-flight interns, neither of whom would care to be associated with Rump.
This about the President of the United States. Incredible times.

(205,074 posts)When we think of the issues that caused an uproar with previous presidents, Jimmy Carter's "lust in his heart" comment, Barack Obama's tan suit, and now we have a game show host in office who likely broke the law before he walked through the door. And that has to be the crux of it, who would want a non-paying high profile client who refuses to cooperate and makes a firm look foolish? It would be a lose-lose proposition...

(58,785 posts)Not on that list are moral issues, which probably are not normally prohibitive, unlike ethical ones, to these top-flight hired guns, but in this case they're so huge that it's hard to imagine someone didn't mention them at some point.
Sunday morning, and therealdonaldtrump has been talking about everything BUT this. Sorry, gameshowhost, but it's time to start revealing to your supporters what they "won" behind curtain #3.

(205,074 posts)And ridiculous in comparison. I seem to remember that he maybe smoked cigarettes - and definitely chewed gum. And then there was that time he saluted with the coffee in his hand - not to mention the international embarrassment when he dined with the Queen of England, he continued speaking when the orchestra played God Save the Queen! Horrors!
And the sad thing is that for all his offenses, Trump still doesn't get it. Anyone who thought he would "change" or "grow into the job" has to be catching on...

(58,785 posts)that all the worst fears of a friend of a relative about Obama's anti-colonial, anti-American, anti-decency character were true. Of course she once also told me the TV show The X-Files was being used by patriots to reveal secret truths about our government that couldn't be gotten out any other way.
Didn't bother to disagree with her either time. Her smiles aren't meant to fool either of us. She knows I'm also anti-decency.

And The X-Files?? I used to work with the networks, wrote up the listings for the newspapers and The X-Files was one of my shows. There were numerous times it was accused of being way too far out there!

(20,648 posts)He really does only hire his "friends." When it comes to surgery, dentistry, airplane pilots, tax returns, or even cooking dinner, I choose an expert over my friends. This fool doesn't.
And I think you're right that none of the family sees this as real: They've been jetting around in their magic sandboxes, wheeling and dealing off the impression of the name for so long, they've lost touch with reality.
How else could the wife of the worst bully in the world go on an anti-bullying campaign???
This is as bad or worse than big brother or survivor or american idol: Those people knew it was only a tv show: The plan was to watch them fail.
This fool has no idea his entire life is a failure. And it's all blowing up now, and it's real.

(205,074 posts)And I agree that he has yet to realize that this is different - as long as he keeps getting applause at those "campaign rallys" he still thinks he's "winning..."
