(32,611 posts)I got someone (actually it was two people in the same office) fired from that job because I reported to HUD that they demanded kickbacks from recipients. Both always said "Have A Blessed Day"
That is quite the story!
May they burn in hell!

(11,862 posts)I 'think' I had a guy asking me to steal from a fuel dealer once...but I just ignored it..beyond that, I thanked the woman who helped me, and she said I could show my appreciation in an envelope!!!
I admit she helped me first without any statement it would cost...so not really corruption...but I better not ask again.

It sounds like she's helpful to you, and she wishes you well in her way. It doesn't sound like she's doing you any harm so why over think it? She probably chose that line of work BECAUSE of who she is.

(16,386 posts)Does not seem appropriate to me. She's working a government job. Whether or not you want to do something about it is the question. You could send an anonymous letter to her supervisor. If she finds out who it is, she may try to make life difficult for you. Christians can be quite vengeful.

(35,359 posts)What about a Wiccan symbol? Had a friend at UCLA who routinely wore one--most had no clue that it had any sort of religious symbolism for her.
As for separation of church and state, I don't see Congress placing these things on her desk. At some point seeking secular purity makes it impossible for anybody but the ritually pure to participate.
Now, if this woman made it a big point to try to convince people, then it'd be like football players protesting on the job. Otherwise, it's just part of cultural America. One person will have a cat picture, one a religious icon of some sort, somebody else'll be wearing something that has ethnic-identity implications.

(42,641 posts)It sounds like a clear violation to me, a retired Federal employee and union representative. I would not go to the Agency for fear of encountering problems and issues with your benefits.

(34,195 posts)I asked for opinions (not planning to do anything) and got attacked by a number of people for being intolerant.
Yet I would think a federal office plastered in religious posters would 'smell' of Vice President Pence.
Oh well ...

(42,641 posts)I am a theist, and a Christian. But I also understand what is generally allowable. That is also why I would suggest approaching the ACLU first, to avoid what might happen if you were to file a formal complaint.
Good luck no matter your choice.

(90,827 posts)Unless she makes her assistance conditional in some fashion, such as requiring you to pray with her before she performs her job, or requiring a bribe for same, as far as I can tell she is doing no harm and breaking no statutes.
Personally, my impulse is to respond to those who wish me to "Have a blessed day," is to say "Blessed be!" with a smile. No need to tell them it's a Wiccan greeting.

Sounds like she is trying to help, not hurt.

(32,767 posts)This woman's boss should have told her to knock it off with the Christian stuff when she first started working there. The woman is a civil servant and probably a member of a union. Since her boss apparently didn't tell her to stop, now she's got an established routine that's considered OK by her peers. Maybe her boss even agrees with her on the Christian stuff.
I'm assuming this woman isn't preaching or trying to convert you, and she hasn't said anything illegal or immoral. So in that case her Christian stuff is just talk and you can safely ignore it. If you complain about it to her boss it might cause more trouble than you're interested in. But that's just my opinion.
