Donald Trump is publicly considering firing special counsel Robert Mueller, the person leading the Department of Justice investigation of possible illegal actions by Donald Trump and members of his presidential campaign, and the efforts to conceal those activities.
This would be a constitutional crisis for our country. It would demand an immediate and unequivocal response to show that we will not tolerate abuse of power from Donald Trump.
Our response in the minutes and hours following a power grab will dictate what happens next, and whether Congressthe only body with the constitutional power and obligation to rein Trump in from his rampagewill do anything to stand up to him.
That's why we're preparing to hold emergency "Nobody is Above the Law" rallies around the country in the event they are needed.
Use the map or search below by ZIP code to find an event near you, or create one if none exists.
Rallies will begin hours after news breaks of a Mueller firing:
If Mueller is fired BEFORE 2 P.M. local time > events will begin @ 5 P.M. local time
If Mueller is fired AFTER 2 P.M. local time > events will begin @ noon local time the following day
This is the general planplease confirm details on your event page, as individual hosts may tailor their events to their local plan.
This is our moment to stand up to protect our democracy. Let's mobilize to show that we won't let Donald Trump become the authoritarian that he aspires to be. The law applies to all of us, and it's essential that it also applies to the most powerful people in our country.

(17,158 posts)If Rosenstein refused, he could fire HIM and keep on going down the chain until he found someone who WOULD. (Ref.: "Saturday Night Massacre".)
I don't think it would get that far, though. There are too many people who can't stand him already, and as for Bannon, seeing him swinging from a lamppole would be just fine with them.

(3,722 posts)way too messy both procedurally and politically and perception wise to be done. He'd be exposed as the wannabe dictator that he really is, even to the most hard headed in. Even Trump is not stupid enough to try this. Though he may indeed be CRAZY enough.
RKP5637
(67,088 posts)think he's that stupid, but then again, all the lights aren't on. Also, Rod Rosenstein would have to do it, not tRump.

(2,003 posts)His voters? Those millions who are wondering why he didn't demand Mueller's firing months ago?
GOP Congress? Not of they have to run for re-election and try to raise money from a significant number of their own constituents who think Trump is getting shafted.

(17,884 posts)Those of us who follow this stuff on an hourly basis are maybe 40% of the populace if that, both sides of the issues. We may go off on crazy tangents at times, but the rule of law is ingrained in the American psyche and firing investigators simply because you don't like what they're investigating and finding tends to instinctively set off alarms in American heads. That's one of the reasons why our democracy has lasted through some very terrible times. Nixon did the same and it destroyed his administration.

(17,884 posts)but public attention and opinion is fickle, though. Something this blatant would probably be a turning point.

They often try to get UNDER my glasses to embed themselves into my eyeballs, in fact I think several have, as I see black spots everywhere!
Be happy they are just on MY monitor!

(9,090 posts)good places to protest. the RW will scream and media WILL notice. advertisers will flee rw radio and trump will lose his most important attack dog and buzz machine.
all those radio stations have been attacking mueller and trump's critics and attacking hillary and obama.
how many protestors are 300 pro trump assholes on 1500 radio stations attacking them worth?
to ignore those pro trump blowhorns is ridiculous.
Here is the list of universities with the number of Limbaugh stations for each school and the total for each state. The list is incomplete. There are many other schools, and even high schools, used this way by right wing Republican radio. It does not include stations that do not headline Limbaugh. For instance, the University of Wisconsin broadcasts on 5 Limbaugh stations but also on 2 stations that headline Sean Hannity. Some universities may have made changes recently.

I am very glad that someone, some group has organized this to this degree. I only hope it has more widespread publicity than a few liberal websites.

(2,590 posts)That was a different time in this country. Political discourse had not been so degraded by spit-slinging bloviators like Limbaugh, et al. And, of course, back then the U.S. rethugs hadn't been 100% bought and paid for by the likes of the Mercers and Koch brothers with a Leninist-Nationalist Bannon cheering them on from the sidelines. I fully expect if this happens (and it probably will imminently), the rethugs will remain as supine as they've been throughout this entire disaster. They're all obviously more comfortable with the country being co-opted by Vlad Putin than they are with the idea they may be primaried. We're well and truly fucked. Get used to it. Expect worse.
