(Translated / Spanish)The mayor of Salinas (P.R.) denounces the lack of state and federal government

Karilyn Bonilla Colón says that they have not yet served the victims of Hurricane Maria in their municipality

The mayor of Salinas, Karilyn Bonilla Colón , denounced Thursday that the state and municipal authorities have not yet attended the victims of Hurricane Maria in this municipality.

Bonilla Colón indicated that, according to the municipal census, 6,300 people were affected by the cyclone in this southern city.

" FEMA, the Department of Family and Housing have not evaluated or inspected the (damage of) the victims for disaster relief, " Bonilla Colón said in a press release.

At present, 83 refugees remain from the 385 that occurred on the day of the hurricane.

The mayor added that, as in other municipalities, they have not informed him when the US Army Corps of Engineers will begin to install the blue awnings in homes that were left homeless. It has 1,600 applications pending.
