b. They stick with Dump, they lose credibility with "Independents" and "Moderate Republicans" = less money from sponsors.

In summary, they didn't have a back up plan and probably dismissed the Dump-Russia connection as a left wing conspiracy...in other words, they fell for their own scam. Probably rationalized that Dump was too stupid to collaborate with Russia...they were right. But people he surrounded himself with were not stupid and probably thought they could get away with it. If it wasn't for pesky Jeb Bush starting this investigation and then picked up later by Democrats. The sex scandals also probably kept them from thinking twice.

Side note, what I find interesting is, those who are NOT talking since Dump took office;

Jeb Bush; He started the research...and probably knows the shit storm that is coming, and wants no part of it.

Rudy Giuliani; He was a big promoter of Dump...but has all but vanished. He's quietly laying low and just doing speaking engagements for $$$. But I bet he got the low down from his attorney buds in NY...and putting some distance between himself and Dump, plus hoping no one remembers.
