The firm does opposition research and IIRC some unknown primary opponent probably Jeb originally hired them to research Trump and it was abandoned after the primaries and the Democrats picked it up but when the GOP abandoned it Steele kept working it on his own because what he found was interesting.

I'm not exactly sure why facts I knew back in January is breaking news last night but the fact Democrats took it on Trump the media & Republicans and coming out changing the narrative. I'm so pissed off I had to untrash GD because I didn't know what forum to post it in. Just because political opponents were behind it doesn't descredit the work they did. They did their job.

The firm does opposition research so politicians from all aisles hire a firm like this to dig for dirt. Doesn't mean the dirt they found is inaccurate.
