George Will, with arrows straight and quick, targets several in todays Washington Post.
With eyes wide open, Mike Pence eagerly auditioned for the role as Donald Trumps poodle. Now comfortably leashed, he deserves the degradations that he seems too sycophantic to recognize as such....
Trumps energy, unleavened by intellect and untethered to principle, serves only his sovereign instinct to pander to those who adore him as much as he does.
Stephen Miller, Bannons White House residue
Yes, I know it was not long ago that Will saw hope and promise in Pence, but that makes his words now even more noteworthy. His doing Trumps adolescent bidding with last Sundays preplanned virtue pageant of scripted indignation no doubt contributed to his sinking reputation. Let us hope that more follow Wills lead and flee the GOP.

(24,324 posts)I know what you mean.. And I've been thinking about that....
If he is that, I would say he is the type who only functions in one of his three parts- his 'thinking part' the 'intellectual part.'
But from my minimal observations over the years he is totally dis-functional in his body and feelings.. that is, he is not at all in contact with them.. He is like a 'thinking brain' .. nothing else.
Just a morning 'thought' ..I didn't say it very well, but...

(29,243 posts)Much like Ben Stein. But I can acknowledge that they are smart and educated.
I can't understand why smart educated people can believe the things they believe.

(37,648 posts)He was fired from his job from not towing the Republican hardline enough, as he rose up against Trump and maybe some other things. David Frum, too.
I pay attention to what they say because they are not automatically against the administration, and they are Republicans. They know inside stories, and they know what is NOT appropriate for Republicans, and what goes on behind the scenes.

(24,128 posts)Conservative columnist George Will has left the Republican Party over its presumptive nomination of Donald Trump.
Will, who writes a column for The Washington Post, spoke about his decision Friday at an event for the Federalist Society in Washington.
This is not my party, he told the audience, the news site PJ Media first reported.
Speaking with The Post, Will said that he changed his voter registration from Republican to unaffiliated several weeks ago, the day after House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.) endorsed Trump.
