Me thinks they knew full well that shit gibbon was going to end subsidies and they don't want to be caught holding the bag. So..as of Jan 1 2018 my total premium goes up about 36%.
Since the subsidies have ended then my part to pay goes up about 681%. I'm retired and can't do it. I'm almost two years from Medicare and if all this comes to fruition this will be the first time I haven't had health care insurance since I was 28.
Here's hoping you DIE the most drawn out, painful, hideous death that possible for a human to go through Trump. We'll all be cheering for your passing from the sidelines.

(8,543 posts)That means the higher premiums could force the federal government to adjust the amount of subsidies people receive, increasing the financial burden on the government. The CBO predicted that the federal deficit would increase by $194 billion over the next 10 years if the CSR payments ended.
"Because the tax credits would increase when premiums for silver plans rose, the agencies estimate that the average subsidy per person receiving premium tax credits to purchase non-group health insurance would increase," the report said.
People who do not receive subsidies, however, could see their premiums increase drastically.

(12,637 posts)On NPR. They have a very good explanation and if I understand it correctly, the subsidy, if you have one, is still in effect and may even get larger if you're charged more.

(54,770 posts)subsidies that the government pays to insurance companies to help poorer insured with deductibles and co-insurance that dotted 45 is trying to eliminate.
36% still sucks, but premium subsidies continue. At least I think, this crud has become extremely complicated.
Try this before canceling.

(6,933 posts)And then find out for sure. We're probably good for 2017--I think basically we have what amounts to a signed contract thru Dec 31st,it's what happens in 2018 that will be make or break.
Whatever....this will not be good and with this change and his other EO the ACA will come crashing down and I don't think it will take a year.

(42,288 posts)Who knows what insurance we'll be able to get and how that will affect us come the new year. And I know we can't risk going without again--we're both in our 60's (and I just had emergency gallbladder surgery: without insurance, something like that could ruin us financially).
Hang tight--we don't know how this will fall out yet.
