Robert Pruett executed

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/10/12/opinion/texas-robert-pruett-execution.html

Mr. Pruett was 15 years old when he last saw the outside world, after being arrested as an accomplice to a murder committed by his own father. Now 38, having been convicted of a murder while incarcerated, he will be put to death. At a time when the Supreme Court has begun to recognize excessive punishments for juveniles as unjust, Mr. Pruett’s case shows how young lives can be destroyed by a justice system that refuses to give second chances.......At age 20, while still behind bars, Mr. Pruett was accused of killing the correctional officer Daniel Nagle. At 22, he was sentenced to death for the crime. He has maintained that he is innocent, and there is reason to believe he is telling the truth. The conviction relied largely on the testimony of inmate eyewitnesses, who are alleged to have received favorable deals in exchange for testimony. No physical evidence ever connected Mr. Pruett to the killing, and when he finally succeeded in having the murder weapon tested for DNA, nothing conclusive was found. Legally, that wasn’t enough to overturn Mr. Pruett’s conviction, but it should be deeply discomforting and raise serious doubts about whether he’s responsible for the crime.

Had it not been for his father, he would be still alive, and probably not in prison. Shameful!

This is a clear example of why it is so barbaric.

Our criminal "justice" system in reality does not recognize to possibility of rehabilitation, which is why we have life without parole. Which is likewise totally barbaric, as it gives zero incentive to behaving well while in prison. Why bother? You'll never get out, so it doesn't matter.

Recently there was a thread here about Susan Smith, the woman who killed her two young sons, and I was horrified at the total lack of sympathy or understanding for her. She's one who has a life without parole sentence, so whatever she does behind bars can be justified, because nothing she can ever do will ever open the possibility of leaving prison.

Unfortunately, that didn't happen -- a really sad situation. Murder is murder whether state sanctioned or not; truly hate that this country even considers the death penalty. It's unjust and so barbaric.

We really are too dumb, mean, childish, stupid, destructive, etc., as a society to be allowed to continue.

UN needs to isolate and brand us as dangerous and not to do business with.

Also, I think likely the human race itself simply doesnt deserve this planet, but after last Nov this country sure as SHIT doesn't.
