HRC has endured more vitriolic misogyny on a slow Tuesday than most of us in our lives.

(12,858 posts)Would attack any democrat . No democrat since FDR has been considered a legitimate president. FDR was considered a traitor to his class. JFK was assassinated. And horror of horrors, LBJ passed the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act; the nerve of someone, a prsident no less, thinking 'those people' had any rights!!

(3,847 posts)So these "titans of industry" care only about themselves.
Even after the Nixon debacle we still had a chance, then Regan, he set the hatred meter up with his racial garbage and never turned it down. It was always an issue with him, every one but him and his pals were lessers. He made the country believe we were less than and he strolled in and began ripping everything apart.
The media has never done a real expose on the damage he did to the country, I doubt they ever will.

(5,106 posts)It became nauseating. The last good Republican president was Eisenhower, but even Nixon, obsessed with his legacy, did more good and less harm than St. Ronnie in terms of policy.

Because some realities change, and others don't.

(2,795 posts)Nothing like aiding and abetting Trump and his deplorables. SHE'S NOT PRESIDENT! She's not a representative, she's not a senator. She is a private citizen now. So what the hell difference does it make if a presidential candidate who lost their election once took donations from a sexual predator? It has no bearing on us as a whole. If she were president, then go ahead and try to make hay out of it. But she's not.
Seems there is plenty of news they could "report" on instead of reaching with Hillary and Weinstein. It's not like the deplorable in chief isn't constantly providing them with shit to ruminate on every minute.

(9,527 posts)She was already viewed as edging on the line after things like white water. Whether that was deserved or not is irrelevant. But things like Benghazi didn't. I don't think the Weinstein stuff would stick to Hillary either.

(3,522 posts)A failed real estate deal in which the Clintons LOST money, ever became a "scandal" in the first place is a testimony to just how biased the American media really is. Not to mention the corruption of the Repigs, who's first appointed investigator into Whitewater found the Clintons guilty of no wrongdoing, which necessitated the appointment of Ken Starr, who proceeded to take the proceedings into all kinds of bizarre and irrelevant directions searching for some mud that would stick to Bill Clinton.
Many years and much money later he came up with...a blow job.

(7,805 posts)and it's a non-story...Harvey Weinstein is a sexual predator...how shocking!...sarcasm intended. When Rachel wastes her precious on-air time on this dreck instead of methodically laying out a case for impeaching the Pussy-Grabber-In-Chief I get pissed and click her off. BTW Hillary is a big girl...she doesn't need us defending her..she needs us to prove her right!!
Talk about a distraction. Movie mogul is a lech, film at 11.

(58,724 posts)And a climate should be created where more people feel comfortable enough to tell their own stories about their own Harvey Weinsteins.
People who engage in this behavior need to face consequences. Too many have gotten away with it for too long.
Everyone should be rallying together in the fight to end, or at least curb, the continuing exploitation of young vulnerable women (and men).
Encouraging to see so many people doing that.
We ought to do what we can to help give folks the courage to come forward and tell their own stories so that steps can be taken, where appropriate, to bring the criminals to account and make others think twice about engaging in such reprehensible behavior.

(45,380 posts)All sorts of people donate money to politicians. We certainly didn't elect Weinstein for president, or to any office.
Should we add a questionnaire to all campaign donations: "Have you ever been a creep?"
oberliner
(58,724 posts)Thus, many Democrats, including HRC, have condemned him in the strongest possible terms and are donating money to causes that fight for women

(45,380 posts)She wasn't going around grabbing men's dicks and bragging about getting away with it for being rich and famous. She's no Donald Trump. And she says she didn't know and I believe her.
And we can't screen everyone who donates to political parties. Although if we did, we might ruin the GOP fundraising machine once and for all.
oberliner
(58,724 posts)Are there non-RW people who do?
I think HRC has handled it exactly right. She gave a strong statement condemning him and pledged to donate whatever money her campaign received from him to women's charities.

(13,390 posts)The mention of Clinton is a distraction from the pattern of harrassment by men with power. Trump, Cosby, and Weinstein are cut from the same cloth. But, they're just three high profile guys who got caught as it continues unchallenged in ordinary life.
Dismissing what has been exposed as a political attack is a symptom that only benefits the culture that objectifies women to continue. "Who cares about those women, it's all about Hillary" benefits the accused. We shouldn't fall for it.
