Sweet Jesus...
On edit: Clearly I'm the ignorant one here. I had no idea he meant golf. Mea culpa! (See how easy that is?)

(38,518 posts)in the wind. I also saw another video where Trump claimed he shot a 72 at one of his courses. He is supposed to be a 12 handicap and I would submit a 72 is highly improbable (40 yrs playing and have never seen it) and a 73 in the wind is damn near miraculous. Now of course if he gave himself putts and took mulligans from the freaking fairway I guess it is possible.

(65,434 posts)As someone who played competitively from 14 to 20, quit playing for 16 years and then played competitively from 34 to almost 50, i can tell by someone's swing if they are capable of shooting par. That swing isn't shooting a 72 and that would be if every hole was downwind in a hurricane and then the wind stopped before he had to putt.
Another note: in a Golf Digest i saw in the doctor office, they had his USGA handcap card image and it showed a 4.4. I laughed out loud when i saw that and that was before the election.
Pertinent to your specific question, there is NO WAY AT ALL at 12 handicap shoots a 72 or 73.
Let's remember what handicap means in golf. The way it's calculated measures one's POTENTIAL, not what one usually shoots.
Play 20 rounds; throw out the worst 10; take the average of the best 10; subtract the course rating from that number; now multiply by 0.96.
So, if he's playing the white tees and rating is 72 (about a 6,800 yard course), a 12 handicap means that the average of the best 10 of the last 20 rounds is 84.5. (12 & a half over par or more than 2 bogeys every 3 holes) Figure that means 80 - 85 and then the other 50% of the scores are higher.
Playing 12 strokes better than one's capability does not happen ever(!), unless we're describing a 36 handicap who could just suck less 1 out of every 3 holes.
Graham is a liar, Trump is a cheater, and even with mulligans and gimmies (which i approve of because it speeds up the game) he didn't shoot a 73.
On Edit: One last thing: Steph Curry shot a 70 in the tournament he played. Now that was a harder course, but Steph Curry is 40+ years younger, is a world class athlete with hand eye coordination in the upper 0.00001%. There's a good frame of reference, i think.

(65,434 posts)Weight is on the back foot with the short irons (not so bad with the longer clubs), swing speed absolutely is under 90, maybe even 85.
And he putts with his whole body.
The flat thing is from snatching the club inside too soon giving his arms nowhere to go. The sway you describe is the right side lifting to finish the back swing. It's not a hula sway, it's a lift.
He's compensated for it for driving hard off his left foot so he doesn't reverse pivot but it make it much harder, especially at his age, to get the lower body back over the left leg. The speed of youth is long gone.
See; a dispassionate analysis, despite the fact that i hate that guy. Well, not so dispassionate i guess because i'm doing it to prove that he must be a major cheater.

(38,518 posts)wants to do that--fine, just don't go around saying you shot a 72 because you didn't.
I wonder if he has a regular foursome with betting-- I would say not because he cheats so much.

(116,013 posts)that Trump loves flattery and that the way to "manage" Trump is by flattering him. Trump has been known to have major hissy fits when someone reports that he did not play as well as he wants people to think he plays. Graham is playing Trump by tweeting that he shot a 73.

(1,386 posts)Pro hockey players hate it, they shuffle, twist, squirm anything to keep loose and warmed up during 10 minutes of whatever. French Canadians aren't thrilled about the Canadian anthem, Russians, Swedes and an assortment of other euro players, I'm sure don't feel all that patriotic about either anthem...
