http://www.barackobama.com/truth-team/fact-check-what-president-obama-actually-said-about-small-businesses"...Mitt Romney is deliberately taking President Obamas words out of context in order to distort the Presidents record of support for small businesses... Romney decided to selectively edit President Obama to make it appear like the President was insulting small businesses: [President Obama] said this, If youve got a business, you didnt build that. Somebody else made that happen. That somebody else is government, in his view ... To say something like that is not just foolishness, its insulting to every entrepreneur, every innovator in America, and its wrong.
But its Romneys statement thats wrongits a complete distortion. Heres what the President actually said:
The Presidents full remarks show that the that in you didnt build that clearly refers to roads and bridgespublic infrastructure we count on the government to build and maintain..."

I love that Romney cited Henry Ford as a small business owner who would have succeeded just fine even if the government did NOT build ROADS.

telling a small-business-owner
that they do not own all of their business,
they will respond by saying ,
that they, their parents, and grandparents
paid taxes and served in wars, and they
earned what they have

(22,759 posts)self-righteous, pompous, self-deluded, ego-maniacal conservatives... any intelligent, critically thinking person understands how gov't programs (infrastructure, social systems, etc...) benefit many small businesses and the people who run these businesses...
the argument against this is ignorant

(1,537 posts)Tonight this was one of the main stories (soundbites, really) on ABC radio news. Okay, EXPECTED. They're the network that carries Limbaugh, Hannity and other creeps.
What SHOCKED THE HELL OUT OF ME was to hear this same GOP spin on the story (Obama's quote, taken out of context, with no direct pushback or clarification from the President) on PBS, "News Hour" (the one with Ray Suarez, etc). UNBELIEVABLE.
The President's team NEEDS to push back on this story, it makes him look AWFUL. What are they waiting for? They still feel giddy about the Romney tax returns story? WAKE UP!!! You're getting steamrolled on this!

(14,549 posts)Obama has a rapid response team. I'm sure they have some strategy for this. Maybe they are letting Romney dig a hole here.
Bill Clinton said "Every time they attack you it gives you a chance to get YOUR message out."
