There is at least a chance that some more returns will be released. If not, great, we get a great issue to use, but say there is a document dump. Does Chicago have a plan?

(31,706 posts)My bets are they know what to expect IF (and that's still a big IF) Willard dares to release any of his past taxes. I expect if there is something released it will be a "short/redacted" form...edited and scrubbed and there still will be plenty of dirt in there that will lead to more questions. Willard can't really release all his returns and will play around with it in hopes to keep the deep dark secrets within (paying no taxes, still earning profits from his years at Bain not just through 2002 but til the present time, offshore accounts and other tax dodges)...but what he will disclose will be fine-toothed in a media feeding frenzy.
I'm betting that the folks in Downtown Chicago have a thick playbook on Willard...this is just one of many achillies heels....

(173 posts)if Mittens had nothing to hide he would have shown them by now...he is hiding something. I'm not saying it's a criminal but it is very unethical , and no way presidential. Bain and his business background was his stronghold and why he would make a good president...but he misread his past, his taxes will prove he is not presidential, weather its swiss bank accounts or accounts in bermuda etc...and beside that, George Bush endorsed him on camera today...bad day for Mitt.

(14,177 posts)He won't because he knows more about what is in them than we do. I think his ballet horsey business was likely one thing in there that isn't currently being speculated on. We know he got a tax break for at least one horse under a dubious pretext. But, was that the first horse or the only horse? We also know he doped at least one horse and settled out of court. He has probably made donations to Planned Parenthood, which I agree with, but he should be proud of that and not hiding it if that is the case. He may have dealings with his church he wants to hide. It's ok to be religious, but most people are uncomfortable if someone is in so deep it looks like cult activity. He may have more money in offshore accounts than anyone could dream of. Who knows, no one at this time except Mitt, he may have even forgotten some little gem we would seize on and run with.

No, Obama will either get them from external sources... or not at all.

(2,286 posts)My guess is they know people in the McCain campaign who had a look. Some of the mid and lower level campaign strategists are like assassins for hire. They have no loyalty -- except to money or winning. They are not doing this blindly. They know something, but it's not through an abuse of power. Leave that crap to the other party.

(24,853 posts)There's someone at the IRS who will deliver a box of documents anonymously. Someone who thinks doing such a thing might lead to a better job, a raise, or some stupid shit.
I wouldn't be surprised if it happened already and there is a large team of people going over every page with a fine-tooth comb.

He's just biding his time.
