Eric Paddock, the suspect’s brother who lives in Orange County, Florida, told the Orlando Sentinel: “We are completely dumbfounded. We can’t understand what happened.”

The brother also told NBC News that Stephen Paddock was retired and was “just a guy” who frequented the hotels, gambled and attended shows. He had “no religious affiliation” and “no political affiliation, he added. “Not an avid gun guy at all,” the brother told “CBS This Morning.”

A former Florida neighbor said Paddock described himself as a professional gambler and was “very trusting,” the Palm Beach Post reported. Don Judy recalled how Paddock handed him a house key on their first meeting in 2013, asking him to check on his home while welcoming him to use any new equipment inside.

Not saying that's not what happened though, kind of like how the Bath School Massacre guy was also deep in debt, but selling just some of his property would have made his debt square.
