(70,348 posts)a pet cause i dont have time to pursue is to make number of concussions a line item on school physicals. cook county juvenile here is starting to do brain exams on young offenders.
it opens a window to domestic violence which would be quite sticky, but desperately needed.
i never played any sports, but i have had a half dozen concussions. none were recognized as concussions at the time. as a kid i had seizures that i didnt know were seizures until my adult daughter was dx'd w epilepsy.
from my daughter's experience i know that un-dx'd epilepsy can really do a number on your mental health. she developed ptsd from the hallucinations and paranoia that her brain injury caused.
