I don't think we can expect "Comforter in Chief" here.

The best--the very best we can hope for--is stifled and insincere. Much worse is if he finds some angle to expolit it for his own benefit and I fear he will.

President Obama acted as comforter after so many mass shootings, most notably Sandy Hook.

President Clinton was comforter after Oklahoma City.

Reagan was comforter, albeit with plagiarism, after Challenger.

And probably the best Bush would ever be was on the days after 9-11 when he acted as comforter.....until he hastily used it as an argument to attack another country, which would destabilize an entire region.

But I sincerely doubt we'll see any genuine attempts at healing or comforting from Trump. It's so counter to his nature.

We live in a post-grown-up America. He will blunder a conciliatory, healing message straight off the prompter.

Within 6 hours, possibly within 60 minutes, he will undo whatever comfort he offers with a twitter rant blaming some political opponent for the killings.

stay here.

It would be his excuse to NOT go to Puerto Rico!

Then he wouldn't have to take a second plane full of paid people to cheer for him as he hands out Trump Steaks to those ungrateful, lazy non-suffering people who won't help themselves!

And if the shooter so much as drove past the campaign rally of any left of center politician on his way to lunch, we'll hear that too.

And I agree there's a good chance he'll use it as cover to blow off Puerto Rico.

More "NRA" BS about how it's "people" - not guns.

Also, more action from Congress - new wave of "thoughts and prayers" for all............

(see earlier post in this thread).

Now, the New Yorker magazine runs an article about that very thing - "Thoughts and Prayers" - the CHICKEN-SHIT way the congress and Orange Cheat-o respond!

(sorry, there is not enough room for me to truly express my anger at this Republican government - my thumb would be worn out!).
