AUSTIN, Texas Texas Gov. Rick Perry is calling on fellow Republican and former rival Mitt Romney to release his tax returns.
Perry said anyone running for office should make public as much personal information as possible to help voters decide.
Perry has released his tax returns dating to 1992.
Romney has come under increasing pressure from Democrats and Republicans to release more than the two years of returns he has promised to make public. He has released his 2010 return and has said he'll release the 2011 when it's completed later this year.

(21,925 posts)When you lie repeatedly about people in campaign ads and go out of your way to humiliate them on stage at debates, it doesn't tend to leave a good taste in their mouths. Romney my have won the nomination but he is a long way from earning the allegiance of his own party and its leadership role.

(26,219 posts)Of course, they are all thinking that it can't be *so* bad that it can't be explained away. Willard knows he is royally fucked if he releases those documents - because he knows is *is* that bad.
Can I share?

(22,919 posts)...that they ARE legal and ARE legal so that people like Romney can use them and not pay taxes. That's the big picture which is much more consrquential than whether or not romney broke any laws.

(26,219 posts)Disclosures - "I did was required by law, plus my 2010 tax return. I owe nothing more"
Taxes - "I paid what was required by law, not $1 more"
This is how he lives his life. Through tax loopholes and teams of attorneys telling him how close to the edge of the knife he can dance.
It isn't a question of "illegal", IMO, it is a question of ethics.

(26,219 posts)You can ride this out. Don't release ANYTHING. The line is getting long, but I have your back and there are lots more like me.
