The Supreme Court is abandoning legitimacy for partisanship

Neil Gorsuch, the man who occupies a seat on the Supreme Court because Senate Republicans held it open until Donald Trump could fill it, is on a bit of a victory tour.

Last week, the staunchly conservative judge spoke at the University of Louisville’s McConnell Center — as Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), the center’s namesake and the man who orchestrated the strategy that placed Gorsuch on the Supreme Court, sat just a few feet away. McConnell, who also introduced Gorsuch, told the audience that he “could not have been happier” when Trump named Gorsuch to fill the seat the senator held open for more than a year.

On Thursday, Gorsuch will speak to a conservative group at Trump’s D.C. hotel. By headlining this event, Gorsuch will personally enrich the very man who appointed him to his lofty position. And he will enable the very mechanism that allows Trump to profit off the presidency. It is unlikely, to say the least, that conservative groups favor Trump’s hotel as a venue because they are fond of its $24 cocktails.

Then, in November, the tour will resume when Gorsuch keynotes the Federalist Society’s annual lawyer’s conference — the same conservative legal group that Trump relied on to pick Gorsuch in the first place.

Neil Gorsuch knows where his bread is buttered. And he rewards his friends.

So they aren't beholden to any elected officials, or even the electorate itself.

The New Republicans, however, view that as a wonderful platform on which to be perfectly partisan without repercussions.

the constitution doesn't say anything about supreme court decisions being intellectually sound or anything.
hell, the constitution doesn't even require the court to explain its decisions, and sometimes the in fact don't.

it mentions some things like due process, but in the end it's up to the court to decides what exactly that means.

the constitution only provides for impeachment, which isn't just for presidents, it can also be done against justices. still, it's quite rare.

Gorsuch should do the right thing and step down. Partnerships are just "in your face" backroom networking,

would have won had it not been for the interference of Russia. We just need Trump and his people being convicted of collusion. Then the entire presidency is moot in my opinion.

Not he nor any GOP rw wil ever do the "right thing". They just set it up so they can do the wrong thing for the American people. Why would they turn tail and suddenly see the light of generosity. The only way things will change is with a fight and political war. There are no soft parts within the.minds of these soulless vampires.

You'd think that they'd just quietly gloat to themselves about the coup they just pulled off to get Gorsuch on SCOTUS but Gorsuch seems to want to rub it in our faces

We’re hijacked by people who don’t believe in use of government but for themselves (VIDEO)

https://egbertowillies.com/2017/09/28/people-hijacked-government-use/

"Leaders set a tone," said Anand Giridharadas. "We all know Donald Trump lived until recently in a house with a stuffed lion and gilded every inch. So they live in a world in which people live in gold and don't see the realities which other people live. The amazing thing to build on your point about the jets, there's an unseemly quality to them being in jets. But that's actually not the real issue. The real issue is these people don't believe in the use of government to help people with cancer. They don't believe in the use of government to help people from going into bankruptcy because their kid got a relatively minor illness. But they do believe in the supreme power is a necessity of the United States government flying them places for thousands of dollars, tens of thousands of dollars that you can get, you know, for a hundred bucks on Expedia. So our government has been hijacked by people who don't believe in the use of government except for themselves."

It is imperative that one continue to point out the hypocrisy of this sect. Their words neither matches their actions or the policies they propose.

Everyday the Con stays in office, I have less hope that we'll get our government back. Even if they take the Con down, if GOP leadership stays in place, we're still fucked.

If he didn't profess 100% personal loyalty to Drumpf, he never would have been nominated. Drumpf only hires criminals who he thinks are personally loyal to him, not to the country, but himself. Even the generals that everyone says are so moderate have to be questioned because of who hired them.
