If voters are to make an informed decision on POTUS then we really should have a right to know how/where they made their money, investments, etc. If they pay their taxes or hide their money in offshore accounts are important info too.

No one is perfectly clean but who wants to find out after the fact your new POTUS has the potential to be the next Bernie Madoff?

The only reason not to make it law is to protect candidates dirty deeds as far as I can tell.
