Via press release from the Golden State Warriors:
While we intended to meet as a team at the first opportunity we had this morning to collaboratively discuss a potential visit to the White House, we accept that President Trump has made it clear that we are not invited.
We believe there is nothing more American than our citizens having the right to express themselves freely on matters important to them. Were disappointed that we did not have an opportunity during this process to share our views or have open dialogue on issues impacting our communities that we felt would be important to raise.
In lieu of a visit to the White House, we have decided that well constructively use our trip to the nations capital in February to celebrate equality, diversity, and inclusion the values that we embrace as an organization.

(16,884 posts)So glad that as a team that they decided this....
I also hope that more teams do the same moving forward and that people at sporting events will get down on bended knee in protest of Comrade Trumpsky's declaration against free speech and against our rights and also the call for action to rid our country of the racism that still exists and is seeping out from the White House under Donald Trump.

In a twist worthy of just how wrong we've gone, refusing to consider an invitation an honor is now a show of respect for what the presidency is supposed to be.
