Kay Bailey Hutchinson is an idiot.

Its ok that Romney paid so little in taxes because he gives so much charity. His charitable contributions show his largess and generosity...blah,blah,blah...

The consistent "I give to charity" mantra that republicans always make when arguing about taxes is so incredible disingenuous and phony. For all their charity, there are millions in American who don't have enough food and have, until the ACA, had little hope of accessing adequate health care. America has a crumbling infrastructure and students falling behind students in other countries due to the republican theory that government is bad. These republicans make me ill.

My answer to that right wing meme is essentially like yours - the rich may be charitable, but never enough so to relieve any real amount of suffering. Just enough to make them feel good.

I think he gives over the accepted 10% to the Mormon church and that is NOT charity. The Mormon church uses its money to finance things like Prop 8 in California. They sponsor inequality and promote hate.

Charity my ass!

in what is considered the traditional sense of charities. Mostly it goes to fund anti-same-sex marriage efforts, and to build a $5 billion mall in Salt lake City next to Temple Square.

The mormon churhc hierarchy denies church tithing monies were used for this purpose, but like Mitt, they won't release any records that might prove their case.

It must be a Mormon tradition to not release financial information. No wonder they're so secretive, they have a lot to hide evidently.

I can't think of any good reason for churches to be tax-exempt. It just provides a great cover for people who want to engage in both business and politics, but don't want to pay taxes.

Taxes pay for care of our wounded veterans, highways, bridges, clean water and air, testing food and drugs, etc., . Charity? Not so much.
If rMoney indeed paid little or no taxes, he is Reagan's fictional cadillac welfare queen, corporate style. He is the ultimate parasite getting "free stuff" that Right Wingers are always in a frenzy about. He is the monkey on the back of the middle class.

the money is given to their charities then funneled back into the republican party...or into their own pockets in the form of salaries...or used to abuse children i.e. Sandusky.
Makes me gag.

to Soros. One gives mostly to political non-profits and to buildings that will bear his name in big gold letters and that his wealthy buddies will go to. The other gives to causes that help people around the world.

If Republicans are such giving personalities that they don't mind giving millions of dollars to charity, then why are they so fanatical about not paying taxes when that money could be used to rebuild America's ailing infrastructure, improve American's schools, help america's poor, and cure America's sick. Why could that not be viewed as both charity and patriotism?

Does he count his tithe as charity?

Considering that it is required payment to stay in the church's good graces, it is not charity, more like protection money.

They, in turn, use it on such noble causes like Proposition 8.

Romney's a leech. He's a parasite and a boil on humanity's ass. He and all his rich goddamn friends are destroying this country because they need to make one more buck.
