but no we will not have to live in my sister's basement! There may be another coming in tomorrow...he was told he didn't get one job he applied for yesterday so we were bummed...three interviews...and no job. But today, I am doing the happy dance!

(68,352 posts)I have been home as hubs older sister...much older...is handicapped and has experienced medical issues of late. We are lucky. He has been out of work for 20 days... It seemed like an eternity. I know plenty of folks have it way worse. We have a kid in college so tuition was due too. It just seemed overwhelming... I am so thankful. I have to leave in a few minutes to go to the airport to pick him up. He has been in PA on a different job interview which also went well...We live in Ohio.

(11,686 posts)It is nice that you will no longer have to be in a basement and have a place of your own where all of the rules are your own and to organize the whole house however you want.

(68,352 posts)is now? My brother had five interviews and didn't get the job ...he got a different one. I can't imagine why it takes all these interviews. But today...I am so relieved and happy!

(5,325 posts)As a matter of fact, my 10 year anniversary at my current job is this coming Sunday and I was just thinking yesterday about how overwhelming that first new paycheck was. I went to a gas station at lunchtime that first payday and literally shed tears of relief as I filled my tank for the first time after months and months of never putting a few dollars worth at a time. So I'm always really, really happy when I hear about someone else getting to get that feeling.
Again, so very glad for you!

(2,190 posts)From one of my favorite movies, Dave: "If you've ever seen the look on somebody's face the day they finally get a job, I've had some experience with this, they look like they could fly. And its not about the paycheck, it's about respect, it's about looking in the mirror and knowing that you've done something valuable with your day. And if one person could start to feel this way, and then another person, and then another person, soon all these other problems may not seem so impossible. You don't really know how much you can do until you, stand up and decide to try."
I'm so happy for your family.

(17,570 posts)job as a pharmacy manager (after over 20 years) because the new hospital CEO wanted a 'more robust group' (younger?) and he had another job offer over LinkedIn before he left the bldg. Still its a blow to ones ego and self confidence but at least its insurance coverage.. I mean.. a job!
Good luck to hubs!
