Bernie Sanders Campaign Faced A Fake News Tsunami - now urging Sanders to run in 2020

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/bernie-sanders-fake-news-russia_us_58c34d97e4b0ed71826cdb36

By late October, Mattes said he’d traced 40 percent of the domain registrations for the fake news sites he saw popping up on pro-Sanders pages back to Eastern Europe. Others appeared to be based in Panama and the U.S., or were untraceable. He wondered, “Am I the only person that sees all this crap floating through these Bernie pages?”

Since the election, the Bernie Sanders Lovers page has shifted to urging the senator to run for president again in 2020. It no longer shares Bients.com stories. Instead, they all come from ThePredicted.com. Both sites were registered by a person name Hysen Alimi in Albania. (Feel free to check out the sites yourself, but Chrome will warn you your connection is “not secure,” so don’t enter any information there.)

Asked what they themselves did, 12 percent of those who voted for Sanders said they went on to volunteer or raise money for Clinton. Only 16 percent of those who voted for Clinton in the primary said they also volunteered for her.

Of course, the propaganda didn’t create the chasm dividing left-wing voters. The belief that the DNC favored Clinton was widely held. Fifty-eight percent of all the survey respondents agreed on that. Among Democrats, the number was 55 percent. In the Midwest, which essentially elected Trump president, 67 percent agreed. Even 62 percent of those who voted for Clinton in the primary said that the DNC favored her.

But the legitimate skepticism opened the door to believing the more demented propaganda. And the more the fake news was passed around, the harder the divisions became. Clinton backers would charge Sanders supporters with being obnoxious, sexist “Bernie bros.” Many of those bros may have been trolls, not real Sanders supporters. Tell that to a Clinton backer, however, and you can be accused of dismissing the hostility they faced.

Definitely read the full article, they talk to a person who worked on the campaign and others who had pro-Bernie internet groups. They talk about getting all these weird stories posted that were clearly fake and they didn't understand what was happening. One of them talks about trring to shut those stories down but she was viscous attacked for being a hillbot

Bernie knew this was happening to some degree, they all did.

This may be hard, but it's also part of the fake news distortion both the MSM and hostile disinformation spread: Bernie also knew that many of his primary voters weren't genuinely for him, that very significant percentages of his primary voters across the country were conservative spoilers trying to beat Hillary. In poll after poll they admitted that they absolutely would NOT vote for him in the general if he won. But the media, MSM and social media skewed their reporting so that it bore little to no resemblance to reality and his supporters ultimately couldn't believe he'd lost, as he always had been. Bernie himself justified it by believing in himself and the importance of what he wanted to do, but he did base his chances of winning on pumping up the image of his support so that it would create more support (people love a winner), including employing strategies that blew on fires set by fake news stories from shady sources. Like Hillary's supposed thefts of elections that never, ever happened.

This is not just our world right now, but the one all pols had to work within. We need to understand so that we can demand it not happen again. 2018 is coming up fast. We desperately need laws passed to control media manipulation of our elections.

Hopefully, Russia will help us do just that. Putin got the badly divided Republican-controlled senate to vote 98-2 to increase sanctions on Russia, after all. And publicly humiliating conservative congressmen and the other nasty sticks he's enjoying poking us with aren't helping him in the house either.

BACK. IT. UP. Show or cite an article or reference that Senator Sanders "knew this was happening to some degree, they all did."

Back it up, or take it down, because otherwise, you're just perpetuating FAKE NEWS.

some synopsies of their findings. More to come. These are not my opinions. I'm passing on a bit of what I've read about what has been and is being learned about this election. Go check learned, reputable sites out.

A lot of people really care about determining the truth and achieving understanding, regardless of who they supported. Not everyone's terminally dishonest with crooked angles to push, even if it can seem so from the kind of political trash we're inundated with, especially from the cable networks.

at this point at least, but let's not forget Ted Devine worked closely with Manaford in the past, especially in the Ukraine. Will it come up in Mueller's investigation? Wait and see is all we can do at this point. And btw, where has Devine been lately?

I saw this happen on another thread and was attacked for observing that I missed an edit.

This is interesting. Doesn't it support the new Mueller news that he is issuing subpoenas for the fake Facebook accounts to see who is behind it?

Interesting! Thanks for another great thread, factfinder_77!

They are still out there, obstructing at meetings, using their rhetoric, yelling and telling HRC that she needs to sit down and shut up. They still try to convince us that every good idea that has been suggested since the Civil War was Bernie's idea first.

And they are dismissing the hostility she and her supporters faced. They, and Bernie, are still dismissing it. For example, his recent appearance on Colbert was something I found highly offensive. Calling it "silly" for her to recount her experiences in the past primary and general election is misogynistic and disrespectful.

This is not about the primaries. It is about the book Hillary wrote and the reaction to it. It is about the current and continuing behavior of BS supporters.

Had people I knew IRL on my FB feed gushing over this great new site that "tells the truth about Bernie and Hillary!"

What was it? RT.

That's actually how I found out about RT, a friend had posted an article and I was verifying the source, and it was Russia Today, a direct propaganda site run by Putin.

The timelines of those RT personalities, speaks volumes about where many of these people seeking soothing reinforcement of their false beliefs chose to go to, and explains many of their current actions.

Much of that hue and cry raised last weekend, prior to the book's release was in oddly accented and stilted English from many new accounts with fake avatars and number strings in their handles.

The new tactic seems to be using pictures of black men and women in their avatars to hide behind obvious racism and misogyny. You keep seeing it happen. They get very upset when they are called out.

like the ones that support Bernie come and go. They will not get everything they want in 2018, and many of them will drift away. They are naive, and they will not stay to build the party. I give most of them two to five years.

Some of the more mature types, the genuine people who are not pawns, will stop and think. They will be honest with themselves. They may not remain as activists, but we may be able to get most of them out to vote. This will be a long battle.
