"They're all safe and sound," said Timothy McIntosh, whose mother-in-law owns the waterlogged La Vita Bella facility.
On Sunday, as rains pounded the small Galveston County town, the low-lying facility that was home to 15 elderly patients battling dementia flooded, leaving the residents inundated.

Lampson didn't make it back to save the kitties - but her son did, according to McIntosh. And now, seven purring little pets are out of the floodwaters.
"They're all at Trudy's house," he said. "We're very glad that everyone got rescued, including the animals."

(2,805 posts)I read an article yesterday about the ladies being rescued and more than half the comments on the article were asking about the cat which was visible in the original photo. Glad someone went back in after them.

(177 posts)...the facility where that photo was taken with the ladies sitting waist deep in the floodwater? With one of the ladies knitting?

(177 posts)...hit me hard. I have an elderly mom. What a world. I'm SO glad to know there was a happy ending for the kitties and I pray those ladies are all OK now and somehow going to recover from that surreal experience

(19,569 posts)I know it was hard to believe! The photo broke my heart, too. The ladies are now all well, dry and cared for, but a lot of people worried about the kitties left behind that had to belong to the ladies. This is a follow up so everyone knows they're all at least dry and tended to, if not yet reunited, yet.
