They've apparently been shamed into helping. "Lakewood Church apparently bought countless air mattresses and are prepping to open their doors. Took a while but good news."

(4,226 posts)I missed the chapter of the Bible that requires faith leaders to become millionaires.

(54,483 posts)Joel?
Yeah?
How long can you tread water?
But I'm going to out you. That's a Cosby reference. It's still a funny bit, too bad he's persona non gratis.

(54,483 posts)I know he's persona non grata, but Noah is still one of the best comedy routines EVER. It's sort of like being a progressive who is an open fan of country and western music. You sometimes just have to divorce yourself from the artists if you really want to enjoy it.
Dropkick me Jesus through the goal pots of life is a great song. And I did say "NOAH" was funny.

(3,867 posts)Probably wondering why Noah hasn't been resurrected.

(55,445 posts)Osteen can't have the unwashed masses dirtying up his church, can he?

(16,894 posts)Especially if he were to actually soak in and live by the words of Christ. Matthew 25 has some pretty clear cut thoughts on Osteen and his ilk who would turn their backs on those in need:
44 They also will answer, Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?
45 He will reply, Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.

(27,995 posts)He's just a motivational speaker who pretends to run a church so he can avoid taxes.

(3,433 posts)That entire section of Matthew is relevant to the issue of these so-called Christian leaders. They are hypocrites as Osteen has so perfectly demonstrated.
23:4-7
They tie up heavy, cumbersome loads and put them on other peoples shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them. Everything they do is done for people to see. They make their phylacteriesa wide and the tassels on their garments long. They love the place of honor at banquets and the most important seats in the synagogues;. they love to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces and to be called Rabbi by others

(61,752 posts)Osteen himself is no longer trying to claim that his church is flooded.
You are pushing fake rightwing news on DU.
