Anger sells

Watching Kasich this morning, it became obvious that even though he was mostly speaking nonsense, he delivered it with anger. It didn't fit what he was talking about but I could see how people would be attracted to that kind of delivery because it appeased their own frustrations. Those frustrations may not have anything to do with what Kasich was saying, it would just comfort them. He even offered the typical solutions from the RW - enemies in their fellow citizens.

This is trump's trick and that is why he will not ever quit doing it.

2. I felt like HRC was the only one not selling anger last year. It's a tough sell for women, or anyone

Not a white guy, to be honest. They're allowed to be angry- society is fine w that. Women and POC, not so much.

they offer policy etc - not hard core emotions. As our country descends into the reptilian brain, the RW politicians are leading the country there.

4. Harry Reid 2005 got angry. It worked because he's a white male

Minority Leader Harry Reid today forced the Senate into a rare, secret closed door session, threatening to delay legislative action until the Intelligence Committee followed through on its planned investigation of prewar Iraq intelligence failures.

I remember that press conference. I remember Reid showing anger and emotion. And it launched serious interest from viewers and constituents.

I think the poster's point is valid though. Had it been a female and/or poc Democratic leader, the story itself could have taken a backseat to severe tone policing

remember President Obama's angry translator. Hillary would have been called shrill and Obama would have been called an angry black man. There is room now for righteous indignation. That is what I see emerging.
