because that area "never floods". Apparently there was a lot of flooding in areas that "never flood". She must be kicking herself like crazy now but if you're not familiar with an area and are told that it's safe by locals, or local official you tend to trust the local.

Anyway, it's horrible to see them all like this but I'm so very glad they're all safe now. Hopefully they're none the worse for the experience.

Now let's hope like crazy that the cats that were there were rescued and are okay now too.

I don't think people really understand how bad it is down in SE Texas right now. Ben Taub hospital the primary trauma center for Houston is currently being evacuated. It's seriously a major disaster.

Trudy Lampson, who owns the nursing home, sent flood photos to her daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Timothy McIntosh, in Florida.

Timothy shared the image on Twitter.

"Need help asap emergency services please," he wrote.

Some Twitter users suspected the image was fake — but the couple says the photo is 100% real. A second image shows the water level rising in a corner of the room.

The light isn't an overhead and I suspect it's an emergency battery powered one.

The picture was shared on Twitter by Timothy McIntosh, whose said his mother-in-law owns the assisted-living home.

His wife, Kimberly McIntosh, said her mother sent the picture at 9 a.m. this morning.

“She said it was a disaster and they were hoping the national guard would come,” Kimberly McIntosh said.

Power and electricity do not mix.
Also, the one woman who is a bit stooped over, looks like she is getting up to walk somewhere. Moving through water is hard for a fit person. She looks like she needs assistance when walking on dry land.

I would imagine the water is pretty cool as well. Even a young, fit person would not be calm sitting there and doing needle point.

I wonder...

I'm betting there are several other places that are worse. They will soon be finding bodies like during Katrina.
