Desperate cries for help pouring in from flood victims

HOUSTON - Desperate flood victims all over the Houston area are taking to Twitter to plead for help.

"I have 2 children with me and the water is swallowing us up," Maritza tweeted. Please try calling 911 for rescue. Please send help."

It was retweeted more than 1,000 times. Two hours later, she tweeted that they were safe.

"Got picked up by fire and rescue. Thank You. One of you had connections and all I can say is I'll be eternally grateful."

A man named David tweeted, "Urgent water rescue needed now ... cancer patient with feeding tube."

Another man asked for help for his family located in southeast Houston. The Houston Police Department responded saying their dispatch had the call.

are flooded and endangering people, and are responding. I suspect they could use more manpower and equipment, though. Why hasn't Trump mobilized military units in Texas to respond? There are bases everywhere in that state. The military has a wealth of vehicles that can get through flooded areas that will stop most civilian vehicles.

I haven't seen any news about that so far.

he can mobilize the military to help people. Or that people even are in need of help. He thinks the flooding is progressing nicely and will take care of itself. We are on our own like never before.

Hurricane Harvey was downgraded to a tropical storm Saturday, but it’s destruction has left hundreds of thousands across the Texas coast without electrical power and has caused significant damage to cities and counties since hitting landfall late Friday night.

Photos and videos of the damage have poured into media reports as well as social media outlets like Twitter. And while many around the country cannot head down to southeastern Texas to directly help, there are other ways to aid Harvey’s victims.

The American Red Cross has set up a donation page in order to raise funds to help victims. The page allows donations through credit card or PayPal.

Red Cross volunteers have already amassed to reach victims, and the organization’s volunteer sign-up page can be found here.

The Salvation Army also has a donation page here.

The South Texas Blood and Tissue Center started to prepare for Harvey before it Friday, and the center is encouraging those who are fit and of age to donate blood—or who have a parental consent form—and help trauma centers that have seen an influx of patients because of Harvey.......................

in-laws, hard-core Fundie Republicans, in The Woodlands think right about now.

Not enough to contact them, though. :-P (It's the Democrats' fault, of course.)
