(12,894 posts)Just some rain from the outer bands of Harvey and a nice cool down. But, I worry about friends and relatives in Houston and southeast Louisiana. My brother-in-law's family "beach" house is on the beach in Port Aransas and I know he's wondering if it's still standing. But, that's really the least of our worries with those who live there and are struggling now. We'll keep you all posted!

(146,350 posts)are forced into the attic, you probably can't get to or use a ladder. The other option is to open an hole in the roof and climb out. Without some serious tools, however, that is pretty much impossible.
Going into an attic is a very poor decision, frankly. I can't imagine doing such a thing. If it appeared that there was any chance of the need to do that, I would have opened a hole in the roof while that was still possible, or have gone up there while there was still a way to do so safely.
I fear there are going to be many casualties in this disaster. Many more than there should be.
Bottom line: If someone tells me I should evacuate, I'd be heading to my vehicle and doing so. In five minutes, I could gather the important papers I might need, grab some clothing and my pets and be on the road. Why people insist in staying after such advice is beyond me.
