on the ballot in the next General Election. That's what I have done for 50 years now. Will you?
I will vote for the Democrat, because the Republican on that ballot has few to none of my interests at heart. I will vote for a rabid, left-wing Democrat or a moderate Democrat. Whoever wins the primary will get my vote. Every last freaking time. During the primary, I will work for and campaign for the candidate I prefer, but once there is a General Election candidate on the ballot, the Democrat will always get my vote and my support. That has been my pledge since I first voted in 1966, and it remains my pledge.
Is that a "loyalty pledge?" Yes, it is. I make it because Democrats make our nation, state, and local government more responsive to the needs of the population better than Republicans do. It's pretty simple. I may not agree with the Democrat on the general election ballot on every issue, but I disagree with the Republican on every issue.
I'm loyal to the Democratic Party because it works toward my goals in all areas. Republicans do not. I do not expect instant change. I do not expect a sudden conversion of this nation to the ideals I hold. I expect progress in that direction, and that progress is far more likely with Democrats in the majority than with Republicans.
So, you can count on my vote, Democratic candidates. You can count on my support. You can count on me, even if you're not my ideal candidate for whatever office you're seeking. You can count on me. I am a Democrat.

(1,663 posts)Ever since I cast my very first vote for Al Gore during the 2000 election, I have knocked on doors, driven souls to the polls, marched, screamed, yelled....you name it....all to support the democratic candidate. I'm not an exception, either! Black women all across the south do this religiously. For many of us, it is a testament of our faith. Progress, peace, and love for all mankind!
I am heartened to hear your conviction to push forward. You can count on me too. I am a Democrat!

(1,002 posts)I am with you and Mineral Man. If a candidate I voted for in the primaries didn't win the nomination, I will vote for the DEMOCRAT who did. It's one thing to debate the issues here, quite another to get mad and cut off your nose to spite your face. If the Democrat Platform isn't Progressive enough or Left enough for me, the Republicans sure as hell won't be working to implement my values. The Democrat who runs in the midterms against the current incumbent will get my support by me knocking on the doors of my neighbors and contributing what money I have to give and my VOTE AT THE POLLS for a Democrat to be my elected representative in the House. Bottom line. I do so swear.

That is our only choice in 2018 and that's a fact.

With our two bit Secretary of State planning on Voter Purges,we have to make sure people are registered and their data is up to date.

(146,345 posts)to join us in voting for Democrats in all general election races. They can put forward candidates in the Democratic primaries and, if they are the best candidates, they should be the candidates on the General Election ballot. That's what primaries are for. But, in the GE, the choice is always binary. Either a Democrat or Republican will win. There are two choices, even if there are names farther down the ticket. Vote for Democrats. Otherwise, you may well get Republicans. It is pretty darned simple, really.
"Vote for Democrats. Otherwise, you may well get Republicans." - to which I'd only add: if you get a Republican, these days you may well get an outright fascist.
