(46,216 posts)granting Arpaio his pardon and by neutralizing all the time, work, and money expended.. The prosecutors and the judge did their jobs to penalize unlawful and dangerous behavior and Trump rewarded it.

Remember, George Washington was offered and refused crown of king (from what I understand of history)
Slowly but surely the tide is changing...

(5,815 posts)Are we well and truly f**ked as far as tRump is concerned? It just makes my stomach churn to think he has the ultimate power to pardon all the people involved in his massive take-over. That includes himself. Somehow, this does not seem right. How could the framers of the Constitution have been so sloppy that they essentially conveyed so much unfettered power to the hands of one man? Why would they have given one person the power one might expect of a king?
Or did they? Please, someone with Constitutional knowledge, weigh in on this. I know there are plenty of armchair legal scholars willing to opine about what this all means, but we really need to hear from those who know of what they speak. Where is this leading? Will it end up in the Supreme Court? Or are we screwed and tRump will remain in power, free to unleash whatever he chooses upon us?
If people in this country are not frightened by what happened yesterday with the pardon of Sheriff Joe, they are not paying attention. Or worse, they think that "somebody" will take care of this and that there is nothing to worry about. So who, pray tell, might that be?
