Cruz and Cornyn voted against Hurricane Sandy disaster relief. Guess what they did today?

GOP Texas Sens. John Cornyn and Ted Cruz pressed President Trump in a letter on Friday to grant Gov. Greg Abbott's (R) request for a major disaster declaration for the state as Hurricane Harvey barrels toward it.

“Given the potential catastrophic impact that the Hurricane may have on Texas communities, we strongly support this request and urge you to provide any and all emergency protective measures available by a major disaster declaration,” the senators said.

Harvey is expected to be the first Category 3 hurricane to make landfall in the United States since 2005 and the first to hit Texas since 1999.

The pair voted against a disaster relief package after Hurricane Sandy slammed the U.S. in 2013, causing severe damage to the region.

I had family who were affected by Hurricane Sandy. I can't think of anything bad enough to say about Cruz and Cornyn and all the other Repukes who voted against helping Sandy's victims.

Calling Cruz and Cornyn Fucking Assholes?

Displays a great gift for understatement. Willing to beg and take American goodness while not willing to give it when others are in need.

I have called their offices questioning their Christian Values. Actually got to talk to someone from Cornyn's office. They were indignant that I would question his love of Jesus.

Hypocritical assholes. Fake Christians devouring the love America has for goodness. I am agnostic myself. How can one believe in the human image of a deity when jerk-offs like these idiots profess to be God loving Christians.

Can't imagine the plight of others, until the same touches them. Can't imagine the way the world treats gay people, returning veterans, handicapped people, poor people etc. until someone in their family or they themselves undergo the same experience. An abject lack of empathy and sympathy for others is their hallmark.

Folks from New Jersey and New York who felt the wrath of Sandy should mail these two assholes bags of debris and mud every fucking day for the rest of their miserable lives.

John Cornholio and Ted "Bundy" Cruz are both amoral, corrupt bastards! They only care about themselves and their Donors. They have no moral compass and care nothing for anyone else.

There should always be disaster relief for hurricanes. Having been through Rita and Ike and going to be flooded by Harvey I know just how necessary FEMA is to people hit by these storms. What happened in Katrina was what happens without government involvement. The victims of Sandy deserved the aid and the help!

I remember being on a transatlantic cruise around the time Sandy hit. At the buffet were a bunch of white women from Texas mocking and sneering those "poor, whiny Yankees."

Guess the shoe's on the other foot now, eh?

I'll save my worries for the non-deplorables in harms way.

So no federal funds for you! And why can't Texas take care of itself?

Oh and question for those evangelicals who cited Sandy as being the Wrath because of marriage equality and transgender....is Texas getting this for voting in 2016?

we could get rid of them both. Beto O'Rourke has a real shot at taking out Lyin' Ted.

But it serves no good purpose for DUers to denigrate the entire state with so many good Democrats in places like Austin, Houston (54-46 for Clinton in 2016), and in the RGV, where Harvey has wreaked so much havoc. Stop crapping on Texas on DU, please.
