They're not spring chickens, but they're not what I'd classify as old retreads either. Trump just proved, even to Republicans, that EXPERIENCE is IMPORTANT. But having experience while being in your late 60s to late 70s might be problematic. ie-Joe Biden (74), Nancy Pelosi (77), Steny Hoyer (78), Al Gore (69), Bill Richardson (69), Howard Dean (68) ...even Elizabeth Warren is 68.

Compared to them, McAuliffe, at 60, and Hagan at 64 are BABIES. You can't get much younger than that, and still be considered a heavyweight.

I'd also put Xavier Becerra, Kamala Harris, and Wendy Davis in the running too; but their demographics and electoral college math are all wrong. Democrats won't gain anything in Texas by having Davis on the ticket, or anything in California by having Harris or Becerra on the ticket. Virginia and North Carolina are both purple states that could be swung blue by having them on the ticket.

No thank you. Such a tightly regional ticket would be a turnoff to much of the country and besides, it's too early.

We need to get rid of Drumpf and we need to work on Congress in 2018. Then it might be time to start throwing out names. However, picking both from just one region is not smart.

From Arkansas and Tennessee, respectively.

While McAuliffe may be God's gift to Virginia (I heard him say as much in an interview) I'm not overly impressed with his efforts on behalf of Democrats nationally.

You should search to see what is publicly known. Her husband sent out an update maybe 4-6 weeks ago.

That said, there is nothing to be gained by promoting someone so early. It seems that some of the pure among us are salivating at the chance to start bashing Democrats. See Corey Booker and Kamla Harris.

I believe his relationship with the Clinton's is simply too much baggage. And, as a white woman, I believe we need one or more person of color on the ticket to reflect how our country's demographics are changing. As a WOMAN, I believe this time around, we need a man to run for president, and a woman for VP. I think our backward country needs to be eased into getting used to a woman as president (and I know, it's ridiculous, but I think it's true).

then there would BE no Democratic Party heavyweights. And by heavyweights I mean people with practical experience. The Republicans may have become Luddites and nihilists who think that experience EQUALS corruption and 'elitist' attitudes, but just look where that philosophy has landed them.

I'm not suggesting the Party CHOOSE candidates yet, but they absolutely SHOULD be working to raise the public profile of a number of candidates LONG before them.

The only reason why anybody even KNOWS who Kamala Harris is (on the national scale) is because her fellow Democrats HANDED her some of the fights that she's been involved in. The only way to win is for the Democrats to work together to start raising the profiles of their "star" candidates EARLY.

or Booker/Castro

Castro is a good speaker and could drive up Hispanic American turnout, even though he is not fluent in Spanish.

Booker and Harris are both charismatic and since Reagan became president, the more charismatic has always won. (or, in the case of Dukakis v Bush, the least "negative" of charisma)

And Kay's health is not where it needs to be.

On top of that there Are some issues unresolved from her husband and sons doing solar work with stimulus funds that they would dig up and use to sling dirt, including her husband possibly falsifying records to the state on her sons application for an electrical contractor license. It's nothing big, but it would be drug out into a big deal.
