The car stopped and then accelerated. Only minor injuries were reported. The driver was taken into custody about a block away from the protest.
I hadn't seen this discussed here.

(86,917 posts)like a fad. I know that the state legislature of ND made it legal to run down protestors... I think anyone advocating such activity should be committed to an institution for the criminally insane.

(10,278 posts)Does NOT outweigh someone else's constitutional fucking RIGHT to block traffic in protest as PROTECTED SPEECH.
If nothing else, if those protesters turn themselves into a legitimate Public hazard, it's the job of the STATE (local GOVERNMENT) to do something about that, not some asshole who's pissed off at the message and late for work.
Small Government, my fucking ASS.

Hope he has car insurance because they're going to have to pay out for anyone he injured. Mr Colao will pay for his stupidity for years to come.

(7,548 posts)only accorded to those that agree to obey traffic laws. Traffic laws do not permit running into a pedestrian with an automobile anywhere at any time. Protestors do not have a 'right' to block traffic even when engaged in lawful protest. Regardless, if you intentionally strike a pedestrian with an automobile, even a pedestrian you view to be illegally blocking traffic, you are in violation of the law. Any law passed by any state condoming this would be patently unconstitutional, as it violates others' civil rights, namely the right not to be willfully run down by a Nazi.

And I got sick from seeing comments about how awful the protesters were for being in the roads. I would have stopped my car and got out to show them my support had I come upon any while driving. Folks were acting like being inconvenienced for a few minutes was so much worse than what the protests were about. It was sad to hear this.
